Cool show alert.
Connexion Artist Run Centre has been championing contemporary art and artists in New Brunswick since 1984. This year, the organization will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a range of programming spanning past, present, and future activities. One of the first events planned in this year-long celebration is a live performance by the Montreal-based experimental sound ensemble Trajectories set to take place at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre on April 19.
Trajectories is an ensemble of electroacoustic composers and interdisciplinary artists based in Montréal and New Brunswick consisting of Charles Harding, Malte Leander, and Connor Cook.
Fredericton’s Counting on Downstairs (Eric Hill) and Emily Kennedy round out the show’s lineup.
This performance is presented by Connexion ARC in partnership with CSAC.
Trajectories + Counting on Downstairs + Emily Kennedy | April 19 | 7:30 p.m. | Charlotte Street Arts Centre | Tickets are $15 in advance. $20 at the door.
Trumpet player Nicole Rampersaud and multi-instrumentalist Joel LeBlanc will perform an evening of improvised music at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre on Friday May 30.
Trumpet player Nicole Rampersaud and multi-instrumentalist Joel LeBlanc will perform an evening of improvised music at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre on Friday May 30.
Trumpet Player, composer, and improviser Nicole Rampersaud’s performances are widely lauded for creating compelling sonic worlds that combine spontaneous lyricism and an extensive timbral palette through remarkable technical command of her instrument. Nicole is the co-founder of the online improvisation series, Understory, connecting artists from across the geo-political territory known as Canada.
Composer and multi-instrumentalist, Joel LeBlanc is primarily a self taught musician. Much of his formative training was earned on the road with the award winning trio Hot Toddy who toured internationally from 1997 to 2009. Joel collaborated with the late Ken Aldcroft to record and tour the album The Long and Short of It beginning his foray into freely improvised music. LeBlanc has since collaborated with several musicians including Arthur Bull, Evan Shaw, Nicole Rampersaud, Mark Adam, Tom Easley, Andrew Miller and Nadia Francavilla.
This event is all ages.

Picture yourself in a tent by the river, with Andrew Sisk singing and a breeze blowing through. The welcomed combination of shade and grass and a seated audience helped provide the perfect atmosphere for this opening set at Sweltering Songs 2023.
At this point, Sisk has become as close to a permanent artist in residence as any artist could, regularly contributing performances and workshops at many a Shivering/Sweltering Song event. And rightfully so. Although he hasn’t called New Brunswick home in well over a decade, Sisk, a native of Chipman, is a New Brunswick songwriting treasure. A poet with a guitar whose combination of honest, heartfelt lyricism and subtle humour never disappoint.
Sisk helped get Sweltering Songs off to a solid start this afternoon with a career spanning set that included songs from his albums Mr. Miracle (Waiting for You, The Way I’m Feeling, Ten Years), Treelines (title track), a few songs from his old band Share (Silhouette, Date and Time), and a trio of songs from his forthcoming album Adrift, setting the tone for an afternoon of music in what might possibly be the best festival location/venue the city has ever seen.

Back in 2019, we worked with @raynemakerproductions to create a video series focusing on several “lost” all ages venues throughout the city of Fredericton. It got shelved for a bit but we’re ready to roll it out now. Better late than never.
The series will begin next week with a look at St. Charbell’s Hall. Lots of stories will be shared. We should probably secure legal counsel before this one drops.
Keep you eyes open and get ready for a stroll down memory lane as we take you on a tour of the many venues that supported all ages shows through the 80s, 90s, and into the 00’s.
In case you missed it, we premiered a new video from Diner Drugs this morning. Stop by and check it out. #newnewbrunswickmusic
