Update: just got this information from sheriff deputies.
“On August 13, 2024, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office conducted a joint operation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation regarding allegations of the distribution of child po*******hy. This operation led to a search warrant being executed at 3695 Ridge Court, Morganton, and another search warrant outside of Morganton. Ultimately, Andrew Clay Devinney was taken into custody and charged with eight felony counts of second-degree s*xual exploitation of a minor. Devinney received a $500,000.00 secured bond, and his first appearance in court will be on August 14, 2024.”

Breaking Morganton- Sheriff deputies in Burke County have arrested a state detention officer accused of committing s*x crimes involving children.
Andrew Devinney has been charged with eight counts of 2nd degree s*xual exploation of a minor. According to arrest warrants Devinney distributed videos of children some just 8-years old engaged in s*xual acts.
The North Carolina Department of Public Safety says Devinney, who worked as a correctional officer in McDowell County, has been placed on investigatory leave with pay. Watch channel 9 eyewitness news for updates on this developing story.

One of the best night sky events of the year is happening this weekend. This is my favorite Perseid capture from last year. The peak of this shower is Monday night into Tuesday morning. If you find a clear, dark sky this weekend you will see a bunch of meteors. Because the moon will be out in the evenings, your best opportunities will be in the early pre-dawn hours after the moon has set.
