Been stuck at home for one month now after breaking my femur on the hood of a car, and finally have a home studio set up. Typically, sessions are hours long, and get to a point where I can sit back and let the thing play, and it does it’s own thing. That’s interesting as it happens, but not really once it’s recorded, I find. I will have a series of edits of these sessions though, of which this is the first - “Like Titanium For Marrow”. .oakland and I will be playing as dovetail on June 8, peacock lounge, lower Haight San Francisco. Dianne is playing bass, I am doing “electroacoustic vocals“ (find out what that is, come to the show!) we are opening, followed by some hard hitting MOFO’s.

There’s something about live drums and electronics; many have attempted, but the bitch has to be just right to pull it off successfully.

This album is in that continuum, and is decidedly the pinnacle of live electronics and acoustic drums

Using arrhythmic/asynchronous/quasi-rhythmic circuits, initially designed for a “free jazz drum machine“ that would have traditionally triggered filter pings, synthesized tones, and glitchy pops and clicks, these rhythmic events were instead routed to a host of mechanical solenoids, which would trigger and play snare, timbales, piano string, crash symbol, and no cowbell.

Other complementary synthesized events were triggered in tandem with these, sometimes asynchronous, sometimes mixed to blend with the acoustic elements.

Recorded at home in the winter of 2022, at a time when conditions were optimal. Until settings of space and time align as such again, this will be the sole document of these experiments.

After a trip to the vet (just for vitamin shots today, not big tests, that’s tomorrow), Ichabod relaxes in the garden with his sisters, Kit and Sméagol THANKS to everyone who helped out with the upcoming bills, we had gone to the vet yesterday with a quote that we could afford, and the estimate doubled after talking to a second vet (not our primary)… we had to leave as we simply didn’t have enough to cover the new minimal quote cost, but after a helping hand from a bunch of you, and of course selling all those LP’s, we’re rescheduled for tomorrow! Also, our primary vet apparently reamed out the specialist center and we got an apology, a refund of their appointment fee for yesterday, and expedited service for tomorrow.. just to keep people in the loop. Here’s the gist of what’s happening, by the way: We are testing to see if he has small cell lymphoma (treatable, and a chill treatment) or a pancreatic cancer (for which the treatment seems as bad as the affliction, so we would focus on his remaining days being as spoiled as possible).

Just a little split to showcase some recent music. Side a (Mal Sed - Péter Lamos and Matt Parchinski) was inspired quite a bit by Giuseppe Ielasi‘s “stunt“ project. The artwork by Sightlab was inspired by the music on Side A. Making this a split instead of an album happened when the last track on side B (Scy1e - Raub Roy) was rendered, as inspired by the artwork Sightlab made for Side A (which was inspired by Giuseppe Ielasi stunt albums, in case you forgot).

Up at again, This time only for a week rather than a month. The shot of the house I’m staying in, which is mostly obscured by the sun flare, was taken as I rode in from a Mission of exploration. Didn’t realize how well it came out until much later. More to come.
