Welcome to Seattleland

That is your host, Sara Bernard.

She is sitting in the Seattleland studio in the Bellevue offices of Sound Publishing, a newspaper publisher with titles throughout Western Washington and the good sense to give Sara her own podcast. Every Friday, now, Sara delivers thought-provoking and heart-tugging tales of one of the most prosperous, beautiful, and complicated places around.

Sara isn’t doing this alone. The podcast is also the product of a community of journalists that have long been reporting stories from throughout the Puget Sound area. They are the editors and reporters from Seattle Weekly, the Bellevue Reporter, the Federal Way Mirror, the Kent Reporter, and a dozen other publications that have covered this area’s cities, suburbs, and countryside for years. They know where the stories are and, with Sara’s help, they are telling them in a different way. They are talking to people running for office and people struggling to make rent. They are exploring local histories and the impacts of national crises. They are digging into the effects of a massive economic boom and the relentless change it brings. And they are tagging along with activists, hobbyists, musicians, politicians, survivors, techies, and everyday folks to explore the human condition in Seattle and beyond.
