Our very own Chuck Marsh for ABSS School Board got heated after county commissioner Bill Lashley called Sandy Ellington-Graves, Ryan Bowden - Alamance-Burlington Board of Education and Donna Westbrook the 3 Amigo’s - slamming the three for giving a $10 million dollar bonus to teachers and staff during the pandemic with Esser Funds that were set aside for things like employee retention among other things. Lashley failed to recognize that Patsy Simpson was part of that vote too (maybe because he knows Pasty would tear him a new one). Marsh told us after the meeting “I’m sick of Bill Lashley using that as an excuse for the commissioner to not fix roofs, and air conditioning that caused the mold in the first place! If they had funded ABSS properly, we wouldn’t need $20 million to get rid of the mold that was caused by piss poor upkeep of our buildings! Bill is deflecting and trying to make excuses for years of under funding our schools! Our staff deserve every bonus and benefit they get! The bonus was two years ago! Come up with a different excuse and stop disrespecting the people who stepped up for our staff! He should be applauding them and not disrespecting them”!!! Marsh told Lashley that “maybe the Commissioner should take over the up keep of the 41 ABSS buildings”! Marsh also said “I’m pushing for an investigation to find out who allowed this to happen! This didn’t get like this over night! This was happening prior to our current cabinet and board of education! Someone dropped the ball and they need to be held accountable! We need to name names! Our community deserves answers”!
