With the devastating news that RDF is closing, an enormous thank you to all the freelancers who've contributed to the fabulous, groundbreaking output over the years. All the staff, past and present, are so shocked and saddened by the news, as RDF was a very special place to work.

This page will be closing too in the next couple of weeks.

We all hope that the industry comes through this really difficult period and all the wonderful, talented programme makers are working on new commissions soon.

Senior Development Producer

RDF is looking for an experienced, dynamic, and creative Senior Development Producer to work in their small but highly talented development team. Is this you?

Reporting to the Director of Development you will be trusted to generate and develop big & fresh popular factual / fact ent ideas. You will work well both collaboratively and independently to achieve this.

You will have significant factual / fact ent development experience and a real journalistic rigour. You will have strong editorial sensibilities and a skillset that includes creative writing, design, editing, thorough research skills, and a full understanding of how to format up ideas.

You will be a fantastic communicator with the ability to build strong access relationships with talent, contributors, brands, and institutions.

You will have a keen interest and understanding of current popular factual & modern fact ent programming and will have a track record of winning new commissions that reflects this.

Contract: initially 3-6 months with desire for an extension.
Start date: ASAP.
Location: Ideally the role is London based with four days in the office; however, we will consider hybrid working for the right candidate.

SHOOTING PD - Bristol/Southwest-based

Remarkable TV is looking for an experienced Shooting PD for BBC1’s Animal Park. You must be Bristol/Southwest based, please.

Contract: 1 May – 2 June 2023 (potentially to 9th June).

It’s essential that the successful candidate will have experience working on location, shooting ob doc style sequences on FS7, creating story structures/shooting scripts for the SP, being a confident communicator with the ability to fully engage and build excellent contributor relationships, and getting the best out of them on camera.

You will be able to juggle multiple storylines, have great attention to detail and the ability to ensure each story has integrity behind it, be able to work in a fast-changing atmosphere where stories sometimes need to be filmed very quickly, be a great team player, and able to hit the ground running. A love of animals would be a bonus!

Ideally, you should have at least 2 years’ Shooting PD experience/or a minimum of 5 solid, broadcast credits at PD level within factual TV.

This role is based entirely on location at Longleat Safari Park so ideally you will need to be within a commutable distance, however, accommodation could be provided should you wish to use this option.

AVID EDIT ASSISTANT - BRISTOL BASED

We are looking for an experienced Edit Assistant to work on an exciting new 6-part series for Channel 4.

The role will be to support the edits by ingesting, organising, syncing multi-cam rushes, producing review links, sync pulling, and rough editing.

Previous multi-grouping experience is desirable.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to progress their career in post-production, however, you must have previous experience using AVID - this is essential for this role.

The contract would be based in Bristol, ideally starting Friday 14th / or Monday 17th April for approx. 14 weeks, with a possible extension.

Rate dependent on experience.

RDF Television are currently casting for an exciting new TV series about backpackers and farm work in Australia.

Application closing date is the 19th of March 2023

The series will aim to follow 12 British backpackers on a life changing journey to Australia, as they take up farm work as part of their Working Holiday Visa. The show will follow the group over a month as they live and work together.

"We are starting the casting process now and we’re looking for young British backpackers who are either planning a trip Down Under or are already backpacking in Australia, who would really like to do farm work as part of their Working Holiday Visa."

OFFICE RUNNERS: Bristol-based

RDF West is looking for two Bristol-based Office Runners to work from our Clifton office, Bristol.

Runner 1: February 20th 2023 (Minimum of 10 weeks)

Runner 2: February 27th 2023 (minimum of six months)

We are looking for new entrants that are passionate about television, have boundless energy and enthusiasm and a hunger to learn.

The two Office Runners are given an initial six-month contract. During this time, the Runners’ main responsibility is to keep the office running smoothly. This includes responsibilities such as answering phones and greeting visitors to the office, booking couriers, ensuring kitchen and stationary supplies are well stocked, and running errands outside of the office, among other tasks.

When a production needs a Production Runner, the Office Runner may take that role, be it for one day or two weeks. This gives them valuable experience working on productions, as well as building their confidence and highlighting their skills. Day to day, Runners are allocated to productions in the office to help with research or organisation.

At the end of the initial contract and subject to commissions, RDF endeavor to place each runner on a production or with the development team, either as Production Runner, Production Secretary or Junior Researcher depending on their chosen career path.

The salary is in line with the National Living Wage.

Driving is not an essential part of the role, however, please mention whether you hold a full clean driving license.

PRODUCTION TECHNICAL MANAGER

RDF West in Bristol is looking to recruit a Production Technical Manager for our internal Technical Department. Their role is to manage our production workflows, in-house Avid offline post facilities, shared storage system, camera kits, archiving, and drives, and be across technical troubleshooting.

The role will be predominantly office based in Bristol, but also provide support to productions on location when required.

The ideal candidate should have experience working with Avid and broadcast shooting equipment, but for the right candidate, we would consider someone with a more dominant knowledge based in either.

The initial contract would be for 6 months with a view to extending.

We are looking for someone to start ASAP or ideally before Christmas.

Salary will be dependent on experience.
