To the verbals yes but ALL the non verbals too.. so you can work with the whole client.

And then responding with questions that will not only open some new doors and close others, but direct the client consistently towards their goal.

I spoke to someone yesterday who commented that during a coaching period when something wasn’t going as according to the coaches usual plan, they told the client to ‘try harder’.

🧐Thoughts?
What do you think is showing up there for that coach that they need to go and debrief? 🤔

This is classic example of non coaching.

And it’s just one of many I hear.

Putting people through a generic model which ‘works’ for most and if any differences, it’s on the client.

Coaching is not this.

Coaching is an individualised approach that takes into consideration the unique person and all their filters, beliefs, experiences and the way they see themselves, others and the world.

Only then when you understand can you help.

121 coaching is a high level service and it requires us to be well equipped with the skills, presence and ability to get under the hood of a client int be way that works for them.

What’s the reason she isn’t ‘trying harder?’ There will be a lot more going on.

The not doing is a presentation and representation of something else.

People do what they want to do and what they CAN do. They don’t do what’s not aligned or not possible for them in that moment.

That’s what they need to skilfully discover. A coach who cares will always take time here.

One who is pumping them through systems and frameworks, not so much and likely lacking the skills and patience to do so.

We don’t try anyway, we either do or don’t do.

Reminds me of a teacher…. 🙄

This isn’t a client led approach, is damaging and verging on abusive.

Too many times this is happening in so many corners of coaching.

Coaching is a craft and a unique process of human development, not a schoolroom.

Psychological Safety in Coaching by Melissa Lapides, LMFT

This one is an important message and insight to why it’s important to understand what trauma informed coaching and how to at the very least be trauma aware.

Even if you think ‘trauma’ is not in your scope as a coach and it’s not
‘your thing’, it is.

And maybe it is actullay YOUR trauma too that you’re unaware of.

With coaching there guideline ethics and boundaries that professionals follow but many times all blocks lead backwards to trauma and it’s so vital to recognise these symptoms so you can be flexible and able to follow the eternal ethic of ‘do no harm’.

Also to know that if you unintentionally do, how to rectify that and have enough attunement and rapport to be able to repair and hold safe, healthy space.

⚠️This is a problem.⚠️

Studying NLP on Udemy is NOT a high level of quality training ❌

It’s purely informational and theoretical.

NLP is experiential and powerful and needs to be observed and supported effectively by a qualified trainer and through feedback and peer interaction.

Some of these courses may well be delivered by quality trainers - I’ve seen them, BUT if the person training is expected to absorb and translate all the intense learnings without any interaction or observation then I consider it irresponsible and dangerous. 🥹

There is no way I would let anyone work with me using NLP from an internet certificate.

And nor should you.

Some NLP introductory courses are really fabulous as self-paced and a great insight, but not to Practitioner or Master Practitioner level. There is a lot of subconscious learning levels that aren’t possible to do online by yourself.

Master practitioner is all about deepening the practitioner knowledge and understanding the concept of modelling. It involves a huge project that’s not a solo gig.

Of course with people able to do and say what they wish, it comes down to integrity and a question of intention.

But if you’re interested to work with an NLP coach or to become a practitioner then please do check credentials and do not take these courses as in the end it will cost you and others a lot more and to become a master of a by craft, feedback and support and practise is needed.

This year will see the first of my own Accredited NLP Diploma and NLP Practitioner training courses and my own training and coaching experience has spanned over a total of nearly 5 years now to now become a trainer.

Let me know if you want to discuss joining me for training or what to find out more about NLP as an approach and modality and what it’s really all about.

It doesn’t take that long to do a course in real time- it’s a full 7 days minimum for Practitioner but that’s intense and the mastery of it really does take time and that’s a continued journey so please do start as you mean to go on and be aware who you work with.

We need to take care of ourselves and others in the Wild West of this industry.

JUST DO IT!!!!!

I've wanted to launch my own networking group for a long time.
I especially wanted to network with like-minded people who share the values of COACH from the off and so what better way to find the connection we need than this!

So I did and it's taken off like a rocket!

Finding the right people to support you involves a lot of trial and error (as you may expect) but how much easier could it be when you see someone in this 'live' setting and get to know more about them as a person, hear others recommend and see if you're a good fit in a new way?

Networking is nothing new of course and I've been members of amazing groups that have been so successful and supportive. I have co-run them in person, too, but I think being specific in networking is a fresh, new wave to enjoy and I want to open it up globally too as I found local and hot seats a bit too restrictive!

Open to coaches, mentors, therapists, consultants, leaders, speakers, teachers etc and also to all those who support them - VA's, tech, automation, copywriting, PR, funnel builders, website designers & developers... the list goes on!

No joining fees! No lockouts!
