Without that annoying audio clip…last sunset of 2023, and coming to a close. Love, hate, appreciate, frustrate and so many more emotions, triumphs, trails. Main thing I want anyone reading this to know: I’ve got more coming that you’ll enjoy. Already been working hard at new moves. If the second half of 2023 is the trend, 2024 will be a good year. No promises, just keep on watching!

An art installation inspired by Hurricane Ian. This is at the (the old High School building). The art is by Judy Pfaff (.pfaff). I did not know about this one previously. Will be doing more research and may have to make an episide about it and her on Youtube channel (will link that later).

So, really love this scene bit honestly having an issue posting it. I edited it in iPhone pics but when I save it, it’s not what I edited (but not the original. Same thing when I come here to Instagram, I import and most of my edits are diminished and the photo looks flat. You should have seen how OVER saturated this photo was when I saved it versus what’s here now. If this is AI and all the auto-doing of things then I am FAR from happy. But the experience and scene were epic.

At least I hope the video version posting on YouTube will be better!!

Obligatory photos which was nice short distraction while working in ’s . I don the necessary filter glasses both for my eyes and iPhone sensor. Next year is the real deal for a full and I’ve been booked for that for a while!

A little action from part of yesterday evening. Did a live hit too but wanted to edit a couple photos. Didn’t have time to get them off the big camera so these will have to do. Actually, in the middle of a DIY project and messaged chase partner who ended up being close. Grabbed a few minutes (though storm diminished before any lightning was captured). Great view and a spectacularly colorful evening view.

A little throwback to 2012 for some action in . I definitely miss DC during this holiday but I’m happy to be where I am this year (been a good couples months). HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY everyone. Don’t forget that we are free and a great nation. Challenges abound but we have a lot of amazing people and places and we’re better when we come together and that’s where holidays like this remind us of that!

No, this is not your typical Florida . This is part of a large supercell storm in Marlin, (outside the area). One of the MANY storms intercepted during part 2 of this years Great Plains Storm Chase Expedition. Many more images and reels to be posted soon as a un-fill my iphone (which is overfilled as well as my icloud rendering both near useless). I have MONTHS of work ahead of me!!

Sometimes, it all lines up.

This shoot was taken with a zoom lens. On my phone I lost the meta data but remember this was a looooong way off. Not always the most crisp shot but I get excited on capturing lightning 50-100 miles away.

Bear Butte near , is absolutely amazing with storms all around it. Have soooo many photos and videos and I’ll be sharing more. Here is a nice wise view of it. When I can figure out how, will share a panoramic view.

The view from above the clouds. This is almost metaphoric to my life right now. Get out of the muck and darkness and rise above where there is lightness, warmth and clear views.

Cannot wait for the sights and sounds of Storm Season to return a few months time. Occasional pre-season are expected although I need to research more what the shifting from La Niña to El Niño means for Florida. My central plains trip will definitely be impacted (or cancelled if ridged out) but eastern areas may get enhanced activity…but I have to see what past years do cause I cannot remember at the moment.

In the eye of Hurricane Nicole. Moon and stars were clearly visible in a night sky as well as some of the stadium effect clouds of the inner eye-wall of the storm. Additions eye-wall storms convection (embedded thunderstorms) could be seen plus some faint lightning. A small storm overall, Nicole packed a great experience punch. Over performed. Just wish I had better equipment to capture more of it better. Hope the damage and effects on residents was minimal.

Was treated to one hell of a visual at work today. One benefit of the new job: roof access. I may have to install a full time “roofcam” here and live stream at time from it!

Where do you want to go next?
Me? well, I’m staying right here in Florida where I’m living a great life even with all the challenges. And not that a quality sunset solves all (or any) problems, it’s still pretty nice to enjoy!

Clouds are such a contradiction. Light and fluffy yet weight tons. They are colorful and bright but yet bring darkness. They can bring much needed rainy relief and yet flood out things. It isn’t lost on me those contradictions even though I love them, especially at their most extremes. Like anything, understanding and respect are key.

It was a dark and stormy night….

Generic start to any book, but far from generic feeling when you experience scenes like this for real.
This is the feel between lightning strikes (slight bit of distant lightning in-cloud seen on the left) on many nights. Here, I’m looking across at the fast expanding skyline. There is a kind of drama, moody feel with being out late in environments like this.
