So after years of damage to our greens and dog poo littering our course, we have finally had the correct result with the council with regards to dogs on the golf course. In accordance with Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs) passed by Westmorland & Furness Council in November, any person in charge of a dog within the restricted areas (the whole of the golf course as shown in the map) specified below shall be in breach of this order if they:
* Allow the dog to foul in a public place then fails to remove the waste immediately & dispose of it.
* Fails to keep a dog on a lead at all times within the restricted area.
* Fails to keep a dog on a lead when instructed to by an Authorised Officer in the restricted area.
* Individually walks more than 6 dogs at any one time.
If a person is found to be in breach of the public spaces protection order they can be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) of £100. Failure to pay the FPN within 14 days could lead to prosecution under provisions in pursuant of the order laid out by the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. (Maximum £1000 on conviction).
Please tell anyone you know that KGC is not open for dogs off a lead anymore....
