After its base was damaged by fire during 2020 protests, the elk is nearing a return to downtown Portland. Restoring the 9-foot, 3,000-pound statue, repairing the base fountain, and improving the nearby street to create a viewing area comes with an expected price tag of $2 million.

Roll Call reports that the Alexander Hamilton, despite a Broadway-inspired resurgence in recent years, has lost his place in the Capitol Rotunda to former president Harry S. Truman.

History may have its eyes on Hamilton, but his statue can now be found down in the Hall of Columns.
