“Sriyam” is a word that describes something that is of utmost beauty. A word in the ancient Sanskrt language that is used to describe the beauty of the Divine, the most high. Inspired by an ancient passage describing Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the 16th century propagator of Sankirtan who came to give “sva bhakti-Sriyam” or “the greatest gift - love and devotion” in its purest form. ” short for “sangha” means essential community or a gathering of the people on the ideal level. Kirtan coming from the word “Kirti” means to “spread the glory”. Sri Chaitanya praised Sankirtan as being the antidote to all distress and suffering. Essentially, singing praise of the names, form, qualities and activities of the Sweet Absolute. Sriyam records goal is to present Kirtan that has been intentionally made for the upliftment of the spirit of Bhakti. Connecting our releases and projects to causes related to the benefits Bhakti Yoga has to offer the World - Food distribution, education, Bhakti orientated publications amongst other welfare aids to humanity. We believe that Kirtan can have such a profound affect on the hearts of people both individually and collectively that in turn will inspire much needed change in our priorities.
