Our Story
Virtual Noise is a mind-bending musical experience! Since 2004, each Sunday at 5:30-7:00 pm Central Time Virtual Noise broadcasts progressive rock from around the world (91.7 FM in Austin or streaming at koop.org) blending many sub-genres of "prog" and related styles spanning as old as the late 60’s all the way to the present day (e.g. symphonic, zeuhl, rock-in-opposition, space-rock, jazz-fusion, art-rock, etc.).
Your Hosts: In January 2004, Virtual Noise began it's weekly broadcast with founding host "The Progressive Cowboy" with a mission to broadcast lesser-known music from the various sub-genres of "progressive rock". In 2008, "The Perfessor" (a.k.a. "Professor Ted"), came on board as co-host, adding his "prog" influences and new discoveries. In late 2018, The Progressive Cowboy decided to take a break and is currently on hiatus. In 2019, "Baron Mind" filled the co-host vacancy bringing yet another dimension to further expand the palette of Virtual Noise.
