We talk with Dr. Brad Onishi, a former evangelical minister, about his new book "Preparing for War: The Extremist History of White Christian Nationalism." Co-host of the podcast "Straight White American Jesus," Onishi, who teaches in Religious Studies and Philosophy at University of San Francisco, looks at the melding of right-wing extremism and evangelicalism from the 1960s to today. We talk about the movement and forces that make it such a threat to democracy today. Music by Todd Snider and Billie Bragg bookend our conversation.
