Recently the death of actor Julian Sands has been confirmed with the recovery of his body. Julian might not be a recognizable actor by name to many but he was one of my favorite actors. I loved his classic movie star style performance, his ethereal looks, and his choice of projects. His untimely death has been on my mind and I wanted to make a post sharing my favorite films of his. RIP Mr. Sands, thank you for your work.

I woke up to the sad passing of Tina Turner. She was such an icon for me, I remember seeing her in Mad Max and just being in awe of her strength and poise around all those gross looking dudes lol. She was domestic abuse survivor, a powerhouse performer, and a fashion icon. Please check out her other acting roles and a recent documentary made about her life. RIP to the Queen. 🙏🏽

Happy World Goth Day! As a lifelong sadgirl movies are some of my favorite ways to explore the goth lifestyle. Besides the typical horror fair, there are other movies that shine aspects on the style and aesthetic of goth. One of my favorites is definitely The Crow. This movie has such a style to it and such a tragic sadness that really spoke to me as a young goth. The spookiness of the goth city combined with the dramatic acting of the late Brendan Lee really made me love this movie. The Crow can be attributed to so much of the popularity of goth in the 90s and even today.

I just heard. I can’t believe it. I’m shocked. His role in Power Rangers was one of my first pop culture obsessions. He was so cool and strong and badass. I think my taste in men was formed by him, my love of guys with long, dark hair came from Tommy. It’s so hard to think someone who gave you so much joy was also suffering so much. I wish I got a chance to thank him for the years of joy he gave me. 💔 RIP Jason David Frank 💚💚💚

Combining my Christian faith with my love and affiliation for magic is hard. I feel like both sides coexist inside of me but not in the outside world. Many “mainstream” witches don’t appreciate any form of Christianity in their practice, which I understand. The church is toxic. But it means I often don’t have a place in community. I want to do more to develop my own faith, my own practices, to develop myself, to heal myself. But I still long for guidance and belonging.

Today is a day of rest for me, my ancestors didn’t get this day off, they didn’t get holidays to celebrate America. So in honor of today, I rest. I rest for my ancestors who built this country and couldn’t rest. Also Happy Birthday Captain America!
