This week, we’re sharing a collection of stories on a heavy but important subject. You’ll hear stories contain references to gendered violence, including domestic, family, or sexual violence. Please listen with care. Data shows a 30% increase in intimate partner violence over the past year, with 60 women being killed by men. These numbers are heartbreaking and unacceptable.
But people aren’t staying silent. Across the country, demonstrations against domestic, family, and sexual violence are taking place, with more planned in the coming weeks.
In Alice Springs, where homicides are occurring at seven times the national average, funding for countering intimate partner violence has fallen short. Yet, the relentless efforts of advocates are pushing the government to take action. We hear an example of this in our first story made with @outloudarts for Stories From Here, where Jasmyn encounters someone in distress in a public park—a stark reminder of the importance of speaking out and supporting one another in the fight against gendered violence.

In a time of climate change and natural disasters, of warmer winters and colder summers, it often feels like our understanding of mother nature and her seasons falls short.
And so, it makes sense to turn to insights from First Nations people whose knowledge of the country is deep and all-encompassing.
This week we’re lucky enough to bring you some of this knowledge. Produced by @therealram0n, Aunty Munya, an Elder from the Kimberley region of Western Australia, explains the six seasons.
