“It is the goal of every devotee of Hekate to become the Queen’s faithful Hound, so this story has great value as a meditation both on Hekate’s compassion and on the Devotee’s ability to unbecome: to forsake her compromised self and take on new forms by which she may attain her freedom.” - from “Hymn to Hekuba”, contributed by Jack Grayle.

Today, I am happy to release the paperback edition of The Forbidden Alchemies, a memorial book of my dear friend, Bill Siebert, also known as Alobar Greywalker, as well as by other names, at a greatly reduced price.
It is so new that Amazon doesn’t even have the cover image yet.

The Paperback Edition
https://amazon.com/Forbidden-Alchemies-Frater-PVN/dp/1958359041

Bill, Alobar/PVN was an early Chaos Magician, working in s*x, sacraments, and Nightside Qabalah. He was also a profound early influence on me. He died of Covid in July 2020 in New Orleans with most of his early, long form, essays languishing as chapbooks.

After a year of scanning, cleaning, and editing, with the help of the Horus-Maat Lodge and Black Moon Publishing, and contributions from Don Karr and Cliff Pollick, Concrescent Press is honored to bring you this monument to the life and work of Frater PVN.

The source material was quite difficult to work with. Digest sized chapbooks, printed in the 1980s with a dot matrix printer, justified by horizontally scaling the characters, with headers and footers. It took improvements in optical character recognition technology and most the year to get clean text into readable shape. Some of his essays are accompanied by diagrams, which I redrew. Fortunately we also have Don Karr’s renderings of some of Bill’s sketches for the Chalice of Ecstacy and the Rose of Charon. The few remaining original sketches could not be helped.

I’ve been teased about the garish cover, the wild titling font, and the “edge lordy” warning. My role here is not to display my good taste in design, but express for you Frater PVN’s character and style (if you met him, you would know). Also, in this day of hyper sensitivity, often quite warranted, an acknowledgment that our author’s position is beyond the bounds of social propriety is clearly required.

From the back cover copy:

Herein lie the Forbidden Alchemies of Frater PVN. In these Alchemies are treated the use of s*x for magic, drugs for illumination, and rituals for entering into dangerous realms. If any of these things offend you, put this book down.

This work is a collection of the rare chapbook editions of PVN’s work mostly from the 1980s, reset and expanded with supplementary material, most of which has seen only limited distribution. With death of the author, his friends gathered their files to produce this volume.

None of what is herein is politically correct, socially approved or within the bounds of dogma; anyone’s dogma. Enter at your own risk, apply what you learn at your own discretion. The views expressed in this work are solely of the authors and are not be attributed to the publisher.

We have preserved Frater PVN’s idiosyncratic typography and grammar to convey the character of his writing. Commentary, except for a few clarifying remarks in the footnotes, will be reserved to the end.

Come meet Frater PVN as we did, on his own terms.

Concrescent Press is delighted to announce our latest book, Runespells, a Grimoire of Rune Magick by Shade Vedhrfolnir, also known as the late Robert Carry of the Horus Maat Lodge.
Shade/Robert also created full page collages for each rune which are reproduced in full color in this 7x10, premium paper, hardbound volume. 284pp.

Special thanks to Aion Hermeticusnath for introducing Shade to me, and filling in on author queries, after Alzheimer's took Shade from us, and writing a heart felt-biography for his dear friend.

The book is available on Amazon here:
https://www.amazon.com/Runespells-Grimoire-Rune-Magick-Shade-Vedhrfolnir/dp/0990392767

Carey brings the perspective of a ceremonial magician to the use of the runes in divination and magic. The suggestions for interpretation cover both positive and negative meanings, and the color images included for each Rune are rich in additional meaning.
—Diana L. Paxson, author of Taking up the Runes

Decades ago, when I first began to explore runes and the Norse-Germanic religion of Asatru with which they’re associated, few books on the subject were available. They included fanciful inventions which disrespected the ancient traditions, as well as dry overly scholarly volumes. In more recent years, I have encountered many books on runes. Some put forth interpretations which had me wondering how the author got their odd imaginings published. A few offered interesting new perspectives which actually rang true. I have always valued books such as Runespells. This book has a solid foundation in the lore of societies who utilized runes over the centuries, is respectful of the spiritual traditions associated with the runes, and is presented in an approachable and welcoming voice which encourages exploration.”
—Drew Ward, from the Preface
