CASTING CALL, Short Film by 88th Law House (formerly Studio Razorsharp)

Project is NON-UNION, and currently as it stands this is an unpaid project. Credits provided. Footage for your demo reel will be discussed individually.

If you’ve applied to or worked with 88th Law House (formerly Studio Razorsharp) in the past, you can let us know at your discretion. Please provide up-to-date contact info regardless, in order to ensure that we can reach you. For consideration of your privacy we will not be using old applications in our criteria and we will no longer be reaching out to you for new projects based solely on your questionnaire.

NOTE: We are going to start this off by just casting the main leads. Once the leads are cast, a casting call will begin for the remaining roles. Since it is early in the process, locations and finite details are sort of in the air. Ideally everything would be filmed in the west end of the GTA, but these things as they progress will be discussed later with any applicants being considered for the role. Please apply if you are in the GTA, *OR* in the Niagara or Hamilton regions as these locations are also being considered.

Female lead, Screen age between 23-31
5’5” min height (shoes ok, no heels)
Controls the relationship in a bossy/calm/demeaning fashion

Male lead, Screen age between 28-36
5’4” min height. Unkept or scruffy look; medium or med-heavy build
Very slightly neurotic, and/or geeky

Casting EXTRAS and BIT ROLES for a short film
Non-Union, 18+ ONLY

Drama ~25 minutes
- Locations: Toronto
- You must respect our cautionary COVID measures put in place.
- Non-Paid (you will be given some excellent footage for your reel)
- Filming dates for block 1 of filming are currently planned for mid June (even if the date is passed, please continue to apply)
- Can take anywhere from 2-4 hours on the set, depending on the role you receive

Casting Description:

THE HELP (Multiple roles)
-Mafia look OR rowdy look, Hard-boiled criminal, high-ranking thug, or Petty street thug
-Visual Age 13-65 (18+ only)
-Any gender, Any look
-Bonus characteristics: Mean face, Tattoos, Piercings, Slick hairstyles, Unique features, unique fashion sense, any of the above

THE INCONSPICUOUS HELP (Multiple roles)
-Criminals who don’t look the part
-Any gender
-Visual age 25-65 (18+ only)
-Sleek wardrobe, slick hairstyles, AND/OR leather/zippers

If you've applied for the project "Inside":

Please be patient for an audition e-mail, we are seeing some delays due to Covid - things that are outside of our control.

Auditions won't be held until these other obstacles have been resolved and when we’re closer to filming.

In order to make up for lost time, there is a second project currently in the works. It's also a short film, a drama that will end up being around 10-15 minutes. Now that we are getting ready to initiate project 2, please indicate in your email subject the project being discussed from now on. Details on the position openings for project 2 will be announced at a later date. If you would like ANY role in the film, you can apply now. There is a chance you will get a lead role and you will be prioritized before the official openings. Good luck!
