SydScottENTTV News Feed: LA County Judge Upholds Shooting Charges Against Tory Lanez!

Tuesday, a Los Angeles County Judge upheld assault charges against rapper Tory Lanez who's accused of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in her feet following a dispute in Hollywood last summer.

Prosecutors allege and a "25-year-old victim" (identified in court documents as Megan P. Stallion) got into a dispute while riding in an SUV together in the Hollywood Hills and Lanez allegedly shot 's feet.

According to the , Lanez, legally known as Daystar Peterson, appeared to shake his head in disgust several times throughout the hearing, even shouting at a detective at one point before Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Keith Borjon upheld assault and weapons possession charges against the 29-year-old.

Per , Lanez faces two major felony charges: assault with a semiautomatic firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, as well as another charge he "personally inflicted great bodily injury", facing up to 22 years and 8 months if convicted!

Tuesday, LAPD detective Ryan Stogner testified Lanez yelled “Dance, b****!” as he opened fire, according to an earlier interview he’d conducted with Stallion.

“Megan immediately felt pain to her feet, observed blood, fell to the ground, and then crawled to an adjacent driveway of a residence…She described her injuries as bleeding profusely,” he testified.

“Megan stated the defendant apologized for doing it and offered her money and begged her to please not say anything and made a reference to the fact he was already on probation and he begged her not to say anything,” Stogner continued.

Megan herself has claimed Lanez offered her payment in a November 2020 interview with GQ, and a September 2020 report in Complex, citing an unnamed source, made a similar claim about Lanez’s alleged comments at the incident.

Lanez is set to return to court on January 13th!

SydScottENTTV News Feed: Deliberations Continue in Jussie Smollett Case!

The jury's still out on this one!

Deliberations in the trial of Jussie Smollett resumed for a second day Thursday morning in the ! Now the work begins to determine what exactly went down that fateful night back in January 2019!

Jurors first began discussions in this incredibly odd case Wednesday afternoon around 2:45 after five hours of closing statements from the prosecution and defense but Judge James Linn sent the jury home early as one juror had a family obligation Wednesday evening, and could not stay past 5:15 p.m., Linn said in court.

The trial stems from an incident when Smollett, who is Black and gay, told police two men attacked him late one night by his Chicago apartment. The mystery suspects called him anti-gay and racist slurs, put a noose around his neck, poured bleach on him and exclaimed, "This is MAGA country," he told police.

After news broke, celebrities, politicians, and more rallied to his defense and the authorities got to work on finding the culprits of the heinous act. However to their surprise, Chicago PD determined the suspects were actually two of Smollett's acquaintances from the set of the popular FOX series Empire.

Last week those same two men -- brothers Bola and Ola Osundairo -- testified that Smollett directed and paid them to carry out the act in an attempt to recieve media attention.

Smollett himself disputed this when he took the stand denying he planned the attack and insisting he was a real victim of a crime. He has pleaded not guilty to six felony counts of disorderly conduct on suspicion of making false reports to police.

Tuesday, dropped their list of the year's 100 Most Powerful Women which included Rihanna, Beyoncé, Oprah, and Vice President Kamala Harris citing their domination in their respective fields of music, fashion, finances, media, and politics as the reason for this incredible recognition.

Beyoncé landed at number 76 on the list, with the magazine citing the 40-year-old’s Ivy Park x Adidas line, 2019 Coachella documentary, Homecoming, and her On The Run II tour with Jay-Z among her long, long list of accomplishments. Rihanna did big things this year as the success of Fenty Cosmetics and Savage x Fenty helped her reach billionaire status and she was named a national hero of her native Barbados, putting her at number 68 on the list.

Next up was media mogul Oprah Winfrey, who rose from a childhood marked by poverty and trauma to one of media's most influential and groundbreaking figures. The magazine cited her 25 year-long talk show, OWN cable channel, and a stint with Apple TV+ as part of her incredible achievements.

Finally Madam Vice President Kamala Harris came in at number two, with the magazine citing her political achievements and of course, being the first-ever Black and South Asian-American person to become U.S. vice president.

SydScottENTTV News Feed: CNN's Don Lemon Comes Under Fire In Jussie Smollett Trial!

anchor is facing some serious backlash for failing to mention his alleged ties to Jussie Smollett, who's accused of lying to Chicago police over being a victim of a hate crime in January 2019.

While covering the actor's trial on Monday night on his program , Lemon failed to mention that he supposedly texted Smollett that the Chicago Police Department didn’t believe his account of what happened.

The report was aired just hours after Smolett testified in his own defense, revealing that Lemon had tipped him off about the investigation among other surprising details.

Following 's firing from the network for his own controversy, many conservative commentators online called for Lemon to be pulled from the news network.

Smollett has been accused of paying brothers Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo $3,500 to help stage the alleged attack. The actor's defense team has claimed that the brothers asked for $1 million each to not testify that the alleged attack was a hoax.

The star is charged with six counts of felony disorderly conduct for making what prosecutors say was a false police report.

Should he be found guilty of the class 4 felony, Smollett faces up to three years in prison, though legal analysts have projected that he is more likely to receive a community service order.

At the time that the attack allegations first came to light, Lemon informed viewers that the story was of "personal" significance to him as he and the actor were acquaintances. He also shared that he had been in regular contact with Smollett.

However, while Lemon stated that Smollett is "innocent until proven guilty," he added that the actor and musician will have "squandered the good will of a whole lot of people" if it transpired that his account was untrue.

SydScottENTTV News Feed: Drake Withdraws his 2022 Grammy Nominations!

Multiple outlets report Drake has withdrawn his two 2022 nominations for Best Rap Album, for “Certified Lover Boy,” and for Best Rap Performance, for his song “Way 2 Sexy” (featuring Future and Young Thug).

As of yet reps for Drake have not responded to requests for comment so fans are left to speculate why the Canadian rap star would withdraw his bid at such a late stage.

However Drake has had a long and sometimes contentious relationship with the Recording Academy over the past few years.

In 2017, he declined to submit his album “More Life” for any 2018 Grammy awards, even though it qualified; the controversy around that year’s show intensified after Jay-Z won no awards despite being nominated for eight.

In 2019 the Academy cut his mic during his acceptance speech when "God's Plan" won Best Rap Song after he claimed artists "don't need" the awards.

“We play an opinion-based sport, not a factual-based sport,” he said. “You already won if you have people singing your songs word for word, if they’re singing in your hometown. You’re already winning, you don’t need this right here.”

Last year he called for the Grammys to be replaced with “something new that we can build up over time and pass on to the generations to come,” after it failed to recognize his peer and fellow Canadian artist the Weeknd in any of its 2021 categories, despite him having one of the top albums and singles of 2020.

“I think we should stop allowing ourselves to be shocked every year by the disconnect between impactful music and these awards and just accept that what once was the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to the artist that exist now and the ones that come after,” he wrote in his Instagram Story. “It’s like a relative you keep expecting to fix up but they just won’t change their ways. The other day I said was a lock for either album or song of the year along with countless other reasonable assumptions and it just never goes that way. This is a great time for somebody to start something new that we can build up overtime and pass on to the generations to come.”

SydScottENTTV News Feed: Nick Cannon's Youngest Son, , Dies of Brain Cancer at Just 5 Months Old!

Tuesday, Nick Cannon made the crushing announcement his youngest son Zen died Sunday after battling brain cancer.

"Over the weekend I lost my youngest son to a condition called hydrocephalus that is pretty much a malignant, midline brain tumor — brain cancer," Cannon said.

The father of 6 began to break down as he explained his son's medical battle.

“He had this real interesting breathing and by the time he was two months old I noticed ... he had this nice sized head too — I called it a Cannon head," he said. "We didn’t think anything about it. But I wanted to take him to the doctor for his sinus and breathing. We thought it would be routine.”

However doctors discovered fluid building up on Zen's brain, causing it to expand, as well as the malignant brain tumor. Zen then underwent surgery to drain the fluid and relieve pressure on his growing brain.

Unfortunately, Zen's condition grew worse around Thanksgiving and the tumor began to grow faster.

“This weekend I made an effort to spend the most quality time with Zen. We woke up on Sunday ... and went to the ocean with him," Cannon said.

Cannon was overcome with emotion as he described holding Zen for the last time.

"I was preparing my day as it normally went. I didn’t know what it was going to be. But even by the time I got in the car headed for the airport, I had to turn around," to be with Zen, Cannon said.

“I turned around and not only did we get to see the sunrise, but we got to see the sunset too," he said.

He dedicated his latest episode of to his "beautiful son Zen" amid the tearful announcement and said he's relying on his faith in God to get him through the immesurable grief.

“On behalf of a grateful nation, but an even prouder people, we therefore present to you the designee for national hero for Barbados, Ambassador Robyn Rihanna Fenty,” Prime Minister Mia Mottley said.

“May you continue to shine like a diamond and bring honor to your nation by your works, by your actions,” she told the singer.

“This is a day that I will never, ever forget. It is the first time in more than 20 years that Barbados has bestowed a national hero honor: The last person to receive the title was former cricket player Garfield St. Aubrun Sobers. Visionary, designer, and all around creative force died Sunday in his hometown of after a private two-year battle with cancer. He was only 41 years old.

As the first to bridge the gap between hypebeast fashion and luxury couture, Abloh transformed the landscape of what was truly possible in the realm of fashion.

The outpouring of tributes from family, friends, peers, collaborators and fans shows the indelible impact the hardworking multi-hyphenate has had on the world of men’s style and beyond. As an outspoken advocate for diversity and inclusion, Abloh paved the way for emerging creatives and fought for marginalized voices to be heard.

“We are all shocked after this terrible news. Virgil was not only a genius designer, a visionary, he was also a man with a beautiful soul and great wisdom,” Bernard Arnault, chairman and CEO of LVMH, said a statement. “The LVMH family joins me in this moment of great sorrow, and we are all thinking of his loved ones after the passing of their husband, their father, their brother or their friend.”

He first launched his signature brand, , in 2013 and quickly gained a fanatical following with his groundbreaking blend of streetwear and luxury fashion. The brand truly blew up in 2017 with a ten-sneaker collab with that flew off shelves!

In 2018 Abloh was named the artistic director of , the first Black designer to helm a major luxury brand, and his inaugural show was held in the gardens of the Palais Royale in front of an audience that included longtime friend Kanye West, Rihanna and ASAP Rocky, as well as 1,500 students.

“There are people around this room who look like me,” he told to The New York Times at the time. “You never saw that before in fashion. The people have changed, and so fashion had to.”

In late 2020, Abloh announced that he raised $1 million through the recently minted Virgil Abloh “Post-Modern” Scholarship Fund, in partnership with the Fashion Scholarship Fund (FSF), which will provide scholarships to young Black students who aspire to work in the fashion industry.

“I’ve always been passionate about giving the next generation of students the same foundation for success that was given to me,” Abloh said at the time.

Monday, multi-hyphenate hip hop icon was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!

Attendees included the likes of Ciara and Lizzo, who were among those who introduced the four-time Grammy winning singer-songwriter at the ceremony as her star was placed outside the famous Amoeba Music record store on Hollywoood Boulevard.

In her remarks, Elliott teared up as she thanked those who had helped her throughout her long running career including her longtime friend and collaborator Timbaland, her label , and of course the pioneering female rappers who came before her.

“I especially want to thank my sisters in hip-hop” she said, “I love each and every one of y’all — the ones that’s poppin’ and the ones that’s about to be poppin,’” she said, before singling out “the godmothers”: Queen Latifah, Monie Love, Sha-Rock, Angie Stone, Roxannne Shanté, Yo-Yo, MC Lyte, and Salt-N-Pepa.

“I know I’m probably missing some,” she continued. “But y’all are the backs that we stand on. Y’all are the foundation. Y’all ran so we could walk; y’all stood up for something so we could sit comfortably. So I thank y’all for this moment.”

Saturday's ceremony for the latest round of inductions into 's was a truly star studded affair!

This year's inductees included , , , and more!

Jay-Z, one of the few solo rappers to be inducted into the Hall of Fame alongside other icons such as , ., and LL Cool J, recieved quite the welcome with remarks from former President .

"I've turned to Jay-Z's words at different points in my life, whether I was brushing dirt off my shoulder on the campaign trail, or sampling his lyrics on the Edmund Pettus Bridge on the 50th anniversary of the Selma march to Montgomery," Obama said, "Today Jay-Z is one of the most renowned artists in history and an embodiment of the American dream, a dream he has helped make real for other young people like him."

also lauded Jay as a leader and positive influence for Black America, noting that, “We are his point of reference, and he is going to show us how far we can go if we just get ahold of the opportunity, and for this we will always love him. We will always treasure him.”

LL Cool J was inducted by Dr. Dre who asked “Ladies love? Living large? Licking lips? I’m here because I think it stands for ‘living legend.'”

He then performed a medley of his hits, including “Rock the Bells” with Eminem before he was joined by J-Lo for “All I Have". He then wrapped up his blistering performance with one of his biggest hits, “Mama Said Knock You Out.”

Tina Turner was also honored that night. Although the 81-year-old star did not attend the ceremony since she currently resides in Switzerland she made an appearance via video message.

“If they’re still giving me awards at 81,” Turner said. “I must have done something right.”

She was inducted by actress , who played the singer in the 1993 biopic What’s Love Got to Do With It.

Bassett called it “one of the most demanding roles I’ve ever played and one of the most fulfilling. Like Tina, I was a little Black girl who had dreams far beyond what the world expected of me.”

SydScottENTTV News Feed: Meek Mill Declares War on Rick Ross' Maybach Music!

Monday Oct. 25th, Meek Mill took to Twitter to air out his disputes with his label to an audience of 10.9 million followers, claming Atlantic and Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group are witholding funds!

“I haven’t get [sic] paid from music and i don’t know how much money labels make off me,” Meek wrote in a since-deleted tweet. “I need lawyers asap!!!”

He added, “Ask the record label? how much have you spent on me as a artist? then you ask how much have you made off me as a artist? i’m about to make my record deal public by monday just to let the world see what these people on!!!”

The Philly rapper first signed with Maybach Music in 2011 and has released his last five albums, including his latest project "Expensive Pain", through the label.

Other artists spoke out in support of Meek and revealed their own issues with how money is managed in the music industry.

Never received a check from any label, period,” said Cole. "It’s nothing wrong with obtaining audit attorneys so that you’re aware of where every dollar went. Trust me. A lot gets ‘Lost in the Sauce.’”

She went on to say that she'd received a one time payment of $10 million, but otherwise has made most of her money from publishing credits as a songwriter.

Tyrese chimed in, “Most of us who were signed 20 years ago we should ALL DEMAND OUR MASTERS be reversed back to us…yeah I said it by Dec 2022 I will own 5 of my masters from releases over the years …Speak up on it or they will keep collecting off of your body of work..”

Fellow hip hop artist N.O.R.E spoke on his own experiences with the darker side of the rap game on the I Am Athlete podcast.

“When you sign to a major label, that money that they give you, let’s say they give you $800,000, alright? That’s a loan,” N.O.R.E. said. “You have to pay back that loan with interest. So, if you don’t make back that $800,000, what they do is, they put you in the red."

“Hip Hop is not meant for the artist to win. It’s never been meant for the artist to win and the more and more you learn, the more and more you read your contracts, the more and more it’s disturbing.”

SydScottENTTV News Feed: New Twitter Data Reveals Coordinated Social Media Attacks Against Meghan and Harry!

First reported by , a new analysis of 114,000 tweets about the by Bot Sentinel has revealed a "coordinated campaign of targeted harassment" against the couple!

Per the Bot Sentinel report, the majority of hate and misinformation content about the couple originated from just 83 accounts who used their combined 187,631 followers to spread their negative content across the platform. The accounts' entire purpose appears to be to tweet hateful content about the couple and analysis also revealed a level of sophistication and coordination between the accounts.

Though Bot Sentinel has worked multiple major disinformation campaigns in the past such as the right-wing campaign to discredit the results of the 2020 election, accounts behind COVID-19 disinformation, and online abuse toward UK football players after the team lost in the Euro 2020 final, CEO Christopher Bouzy tells Buzzfeed News this campaign is truly heinous!

"There's no motive," he said. “Are these people who hate her? Is it racism? Are they trying to hurt [Harry and Meghan’s] credibility? Your guess is as good as ours.”

Bouzy also emphasized that the accounts were not controlled by bots, but real accounts run by humans!

“This campaign comes from people who know how to manipulate the algorithms, manipulate Twitter, stay under the wire to avoid detection and suspension,” he said. “This level of complexity comes from people who know how to do this stuff, who are paid to do this stuff.”

Since stepping back as senior royals in 2020, Meghan and Harry don't currently have a social media presence and neither does their production company/foundation Archewell. Meghan told Fortune in October 2020 that she hadn’t been on social media in a long time “for [her] own self-preservation.” and in a January interview, Harry said that he and Meghan “will revisit social media when it feels right for us — perhaps when we see more meaningful commitments to change or reform.”

Megan the Stallion is not only one of the year's most prolific rap stars but balanced her career with all the stresses of college! In addition to being one of the 2020s biggest artists, Megan has been attending Texas Southern University and announced Monday on Instagram that she'd be earning her Bachelor's degree in health administration this year!

She shared the news on IG alongside photos of an iced out graduation cap with her trademark catchphrase "Real Hot Girl Sh*t"

Last June she revealed to she'd balanced her massive rap career and all the responsibilities of college by taking online courses part-time and chose to continue her studies to honor her late mother Holly Thomas.

"I want to get my degree because I really want my mom to be proud," she said of her mother, who died in March 2019 after battling brain cancer. "She saw me going to school before she passed."

The rapper, whose father died when she was a teenager, also lost her grandmother shortly after her mother died.

"I want my big mama to be proud. She saw me going to school before she passed," said Megan. "My grandmother that's still alive used to be a teacher, so she's on my butt about finishing school. I'm doing it for me, but I'm also doing it for the women in my family who made me who I am today."

Also in June, Meg spoke to People about what she plans to do with her degree post-grad.

“I really wanted to be an administrator over a hospital, but I knew I still wanted to be Megan Thee Stallion. I was like, ‘What can I do?'” she said. “I was like, ‘You know what, I’m gonna open an assisted-living facility and use the money that I make from rapping to open it. Then I’m gonna let my classmates run it.”

Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert Welcome Baby Rue Rose!

#TeyanaTaylor and husband #ImanShumpert welcomed their second baby girl, #RueRose, this past Sunday. But, instead of going to a hospital the couple chose to deliver the baby at home in their bathroom, much like the birth of their first daughter Junie, with some help from family friend and practicing doula Erykah Badu. Shortly after baby Rue made her first appearance, proud dad Iman Shumpert took to IG to announce her arrival. "At 3:28 am on Sept 6th 2020 #RueRose decided that the baby shower thrown for her and mommy was too lit. She didn’t make the party but she managed to make the next day her birthdate!!! Now...when we buy homes, we always find a bathroom with great energy... but not in a million years would you be able to tell me we’d deliver both of our daughters in a bathroom without the assistance of a hospital! Our newest edition entered the world in the water and came out looking around and ready to explore! A healthy child. A little sister. Another daughter. Black love wins....again. Welcome babygirl...we love you!" Badu also posted her own video to IGTV showing herself charging baby shirts with crystals and writing messages of health and love on the insides of each one and using specific colors to target certain areas of the body.
