Endorsement for the up coming elections

Liberia president George weah

Weah Vows to Defeat Opponents Hands Down In Free, Fair Elections, As He Gets Endorsement from 56 Lawmakers

Monrovia, Liberia - The President of the Republic and Political Leader of the Ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), has accepted his endorsement and reaffirmation of his candidacy for reelection by nearly 60 members of the 54th Legislature.

Fifty-six lawmakers out of the total of 103 of the bicameral Legislature endorsed the reelection bid of President Weah on June 13.

Receiving the endorsement, President Weah said it shows fervent belief in his vision to change the developmental trajectory of the country.

The CDC Legislative Caucus and several other lawmakers supportive of President Weah’s reelection on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 endorsed the President as its candidate for reelection for another six-year term in the October 10 polls “in consideration of the enormous and gigantic transformation” the country has witnessed under his watch over the last six years.

He vowed to defeat his opponents in the October polls owing to myriad tangible tremendous development initiatives undertaken under his leadership, including macroeconomic stability and transformation of all sectors.

In his statement of acceptance at the occasion witnessed by thousands of jubilant and enthusiastic partisans at the Party Headquarters, the CDC Political Leader said he was glad that the entire membership of the Legislative Caucus, which he said represented a significant percentage of the membership of the 54th Legislature of the country, is standing behind his leadership and candidacy in the upcoming elections.

He said the unwavering support and endorsement of his candidacy, which is a reaffirmation of trust and confidence in him and his family, also fuel their determination to continue serving with the utmost dedication.

President Weah told cheering partisans and supporters that his endorsement is not just a seal of approval for their policies and programs but also a testament to his unwavering commitment to the Liberian people.

“Our accomplishments during my first term have been significant,” he said amid thunderous applauses. “We have transformed the face of our nation through infrastructure development, empowered our youth to become the driving force of change, and achieved economic stability that has positively impacted the lives of countless Liberians.
He added that the achievements are a testament to the resilience and determination of our people.

Speaking of victory in the ensuing elections, the CDC Standard-bearer in an energized voice said, though the opposition may try to impede progress, they shall not prevail.

“They will witness the strength and unity of the CDC as we march towards an overwhelming triumph. The Liberian people know that our unwavering dedication to their well-being sets us apart,” Dr. Weah said further.

According to him, the CDC remains undistracted, steadfast in its commitment to deliver tangible results that transform the lives of Liberians, while the opponents resort to empty promises and divisive tactics.

He assured CDCians in particular and Liberians in general that their voice will be heard and that the will of the people is an unstoppable force.

“Together, we will shape the future of our great nation. Victory is not just within our grasp; it is inevitable,” he stressed. “Victory is not just within our grasp; it is inevitable. I am convinced that the Liberian electorate, wise and discerning, will make the right choice by returning us to office.”

The Liberian Leader also assured Liberians that the upcoming elections will be nothing short of a shining example of democracy in action.

Quoting South Africa revolutionary icon and former President, the late Nelson Mandela, the CDC Strongman, said: “The true character of a society is revealed in how it treats its citizens during the election process.”

President Weah reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the democratic principles that underpin the nation while assuring that his government would ensure a free, fair, transparent, credible, and peaceful electoral process.

He used the occasion to welcome newcomers to the Party, describing the CDC as a beacon of hope and progress for all Liberians, not merely a political party.

“Within our ranks,” he noted, “there is space for every citizen, regardless of their party affiliation. Together, we will build a stronger and more prosperous Liberia.”
He continued: “Together, we will forge ahead, driven by the unyielding spirit of progress and the belief that the change we offer is the Change You Can Count On, the Hope for Change that Liberians deserve.

Liberia opposition political leader
Amb Joseph Boakai

Let me use this medium to thank the people of districts 14, 15, & 16 for turning out yesterday, even with the heavy downpour of rain. When I arrived, and saw people standing in the rain for hours, I was thrilled. I sat there asking myself how can these people risk everything to entrust us and I allow others to steal from them to build mansions, acquire ill gotten wealth and go with impunity? How is that possible under my administration? Believe me, this country will be rescued. We’re not here to play. I am prepared for this mission.

As I said yesterday, when the Children of Israel were experiencing famine, there came a Joseph. It is called the JOSEPH EFFECT.

Next stop today is Soul Clinic community at 3pm. See you there.

Happy Sunday to all.

Liberia

Ministry of Gender

Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) is calling on the general public, bloggers and the Liberian media to assist in providing any information regarding the alleged wedding where a 57year-old-man married a 12year-old-girl.

The Ministry call comes in the wake of multiple social media publications alleging that a 57year- old-man had married a 12year-old- girl.

MoGCSP takes seriously this information that a minor is being allegedly forced into marriage, but will need more details to establish the authenticity of the reported story.

The Ministry also sees the act as a blatant violation of the Domestic Violence Laws of Liberia, which clearly prohibits marriages of girls under the age of 18years. Chapter 2, Sub-section 2.2 of the law clearly defines the ages of consent for marriage.

Amid the widely publicized online article, the Ministry of Gender through its SGBV TaskForce, comprising of LNP, Gender, Internal Affairs, LIS, CSOs, among others, has launched an immediate outreach seeking to verify the information and subsequently rescue the 12yrs-old-child from the alleged perpetrator.

The SGBV Taskforce, with an objective to arrest the situation, has already visited fourteen (14) communities including the SDA community,
St. Matthew, Central Town, Blamo town, Zinc town, Zolo town, Sayou town, Gaye town, king peter town, gbadi town, gbee town, Babylo town, jacket community, blowin' community, and Fula Mansion, but the information could not be verified.

Additionally, the SGBV Taskforce visited all the major mosqués in Logan Town, and therefore, spoke with some of the Imams and members of the Muslim Community regarding the alleged report, but the information still could not be independently confirmed.

In the same vain, the SGBV Taskforce reached out to some of the leading bloggers including, The Liberian Influence, Liberia Journal, and Shine Liberia, some of whom had earlier posted the information. However, none of them could verify the information.

Surprisingly, according to 'The Liberian Influence', the information was spotted on 'Shine Liberia Page' and subsequently reposted on their page.

As for the Liberia Journal, the group that originally posted the story, they claimed that the information was provided to them by an undisclosed individual who could no longer be reached via telephone.

For their part, 'Shine Liberia,' another online platform that published the reported wedding story, informed the SGBV Taskforce that the alleged incident took place around the Ricks Institute in the brewerville community, but claimed that the girl in question was 19 years old instead of 12years old as was being widely publicized. Sadly, conversation held with the online platform that posted the story, showed the blogger's unwillingness to disclose the name of the perpetrator. "I am on a bike, I will give you the information later “Later. I know this guy personally so I can't give his information out. Tell your Gender Minister to use some of the money to find him. I'm not helping her to do her job.”

Moreover, the Ministry fines it very troubling the refusal of those associated with the online publication of the information to disclose the identity or verify the alleged perpetrator.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Gender will on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, invite all bloggers particularly those that posted the story, to further verify the authenticity of their post.

At the same time, the Ministry is calling on the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) to ensure that the alleged perpetrator is prevented from leaving the Country with the child .

Opposition political leader
Nyonblee Karngar Lawerence writes

Monrovia, April 27, 2023: Fellow Partisans, supporters, and well-wishers of the Liberty Party, about two years ago, we embarked on a mission with the Unity Party to begin the process of providing a new direction for our country. During this period, we, as individuals and a political institution represented by the Liberty Party, went through a most difficult experience that entailed an intra-party rivalry based on our decision to stand with the Unity Party and its leader, Ambassador Joseph N. Boakai.
It has been a period, however, that has seen the Liberian people yearning for a change of leadership in the governance system of our country and expressing their approval for a team they would wish to chart a new course of direction for Liberia.

We wish to express our gratitude to the public for participation in various opinion polls that projected a Boakai-Nyonblee Ticket for the ensuing 2023 presidential elections. We are very grateful.

At this juncture, I wish to inform you that consistent with our democratic tradition, the choosing of a running mate is the decision of a Standard-Bearer. Accordingly, on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, Ambassador Joseph N. Boakai, with whom the Liberty Party and the All-Liberia Party have fostered a partnership for over two years, informed me that he has made up his mind to choose his running mate for the pending elections outside of the Liberty Party.

Upon conclusion of our brief meeting with Ambassador Boakai, we convened a meeting of the executive leadership of the Liberty Party to inform the leadership of our conversation with Ambassador Boakai.

Consistent with our Party’s tradition, the executive leadership has unanimously resolved at its sitting to consult our various constituents across the country and in the diaspora and thereafter provide a clear direction for our partisans, many of whom had been anxiously waiting for the pronouncement of Ambassador Boakai. The consultations have begun, and in subsequent time, the public and our partisans and supporters will be duly informed of our direction for the 2023 elections.

Meanwhile, we wish to admonish all partisans and supporters of the Liberty Party to remain calm as we conclude these processes. Let it not be forgotten that we embarked on this journey with a deep commitment to work with like-minded forces to bring about real and positive change in the governance of our dear country and to give the Liberian people a government that they truly deserve. Throughout this process, we have always demonstrated that our loyalty to country is stronger and more significant than our personal ambition; and certainly stronger than our loyalty to individual(s)

TOGETHER, WE CAN DO BETTER!

Signed: _________________________ Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence Political Leader, Liberty Party
