This sixth edition of the Awards comes in a very special year for AIPS, as we prepare to celebrate the 100 years of our association n July 2024. Thank you for joining the celebration!

The AIPS Sport Media Awards 2023 are receiving submissions from all over the world. With the clock marking 50 days before deadline, a reminder of the global power of this unique prize: More than 4,000 journalists, photographers and videographers have participated in the five editions since 2018, representing 160 countries and 40 different languages!

In these five years there were winners from the five continents, from well-known and established media outlets as well as new outlets, small publications and independent video productions.

The earlier you submit, the easier it is for us to review your work and give feedback regarding your submission: missing documents, broken links, etc, in order to ensure your participation. Adding missing files or making amendments will not be possible after the deadline. So, the earlier you submit, the better.

In order to submit, first you need to sign up at www.aipsawards.com and, once you’ve created your own profile, you can click on ‘add submission’, select category and sub-category, upload your work (links or files), add media name, proof of publication, and then submit.

The AIPS Sport Media Awards are happy to announce the launch of the 2023 competition, the sixth edition since their creation in 2018.

All registered users can now start to submit their work, as usual, meaning two submissions per person across eight senior categories plus three optional Young Reporters categories for those born since 1994.

The valid dates of participation for the current edition start on November 5, 2022, and close on November 4, 2023, when the submission period will come to an end. All published works in that window will be accepted.

The Awards’ fifth edition had a stunning closure in Seoul, South Korea, crowning the world’s best sport storytellers, after five voting stages that narrowed the original 1830 works from 138 countries, to the last 27.

Each winner received a trophy and a money prize from 2,000 USD (third place), 3,000 (second place) and 8,000 (first place).

Special commendations were also given to some submissions that stood out defending AIPS cornerstone values and excelled in innovative fields of journalism. This new policy adds a deserved medal to excellent works vital for the future of our profession.

The AIPS Awards are the most prestigious and only global prize for sports journalism, a true festival to pay homage of the best journalists, photographers and videomakers from around the world.

The international character of the AIPS Awards is based on its unique judging system, involving 38 professionals from 31 different nationalities that rate and vote in five different stages (longlists drawn by the AIPS panel of specialists, shortlists voted by the Executive Committee members and Top 10, Top 3 and Winners chosen by the Jury).

As a true international prize, all languages are accepted.

The continental rankings, published last month, offered a glimpse to the overall quality and highlighted some amazing pieces that deserve regional recognition.

Now it’s time to turn the page. You can already start uploading your work. You will be able to edit, change or delete it until the submission period closes on November 4. Once again, we invite you to embark on the Sport Media Excellence journey together!

After a thorough screening process, the are happy to announce the longlists for video categories.

Writing, Young Reporters, Photography and Audio will be announced this week.

This is the first voting stage, performed by the panel of experts. Now, the Executive Committee will narrow these into the shortlists that will be presented to the Jury.

The final ceremony is set for May 9th in Seoul.

Submission period for the 2022 edition of the AIPS Sport Media Awards has officially closed on November 4, 18:00 Central European Time.

The fifth edition of the most prestigious international prize for sports journalism received more than 1800 submissions from 138 nationalities representing the five continents, a new record!

We are humbled and honoured for such high level of participation. The Awards enter now the review period in which authors might be contacted if any missing material needs to be added in their submissions.

Once all submissions are admitted, the judging panel will start reviewing and placing the candidates for longlist (phase 1). Then, the EC members will vote and narrow down the candidates into a shortlist (Phase 2). The Jury will then take over and choose the Top 10 finalists (Phase 3), Podium Nominees (Phase 4) and winners (Phase 5).

All entrants will receive the digital certificate of participation.

The final ceremony will take place in Seoul, South Korea, a day before the AIPS Congress in May 2023, with the podium nominees across all categories.

AIPS will publish regular updates on the voting stages.

After the ceremony, Continental Rankings will also be unveiled.
