‼️Man Sought for Disturbance at Thibodaux High School‼️

By Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office on 12/10/2024:

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced a man is wanted for causing a disturbance at Thibodaux High School last week. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Marvin Rainey, 43, of Thibodaux.

On December 3, 2024, Rainey, a parent of a student at the school, entered a classroom and made several threatening statements to the teacher and students in the class. Following an investigation of the incident, deputies obtained a warrant for Rainey’s arrest for unlawful disruption of the operation of a school (R.S. 14:40.6), a felony. Deputies have made multiple attempts to contact Rainey, but they have been unable to locate him.

Investigators are asking for the public’s help in locating Marvin Rainey. Anyone who sees him or knows his whereabouts can submit a tip anonymously to Bayou Region Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-743-7433, online at CrimeStoppersBR.org, or via the Bayou Tips app on mobile devices. Tipsters could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.00 in cash if the information leads to an arrest.

Statewide Constitutional Amendments, abbreviated CA:

Judicial Oversight (CA No. 1) This proposal seeks to give the Louisiana Supreme Court the authority to sanction judges following investigations by the Judiciary Commission. It would also modify the appointment process for commission members and streamline the sanctioning process.

Fiscal Transparency in Appropriations (CA No. 2) Aimed at promoting fiscal responsibility, this amendment would require the state legislature to wait at least 48 hours before agreeing to amendments to appropriations bills. Proponents say it will ensure thoughtful deliberation over public spending.

Legislative Flexibility (CA No. 3) If passed, this measure would allow the legislature to extend regular sessions temporarily for specific purposes, providing lawmakers with more time to address critical issues.
Tax Reform for Delinquent Properties

(CA No. 4) This amendment proposes eliminating mandatory tax sales for unpaid property taxes. It also seeks to limit penalties and allow for payment postponements under certain circumstances, offering leniency to struggling property owners.

Thibodaux Regional Health System is pleased to
announce the addition of Dr. Russ Parks, Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon, to the active medical staff.
Dr. Parks has joined the practice of OrthoLA.

Dr. Parks received his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in
Shreveport and completed his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New
Orleans. Additionally, Dr. Parks completed a Spine Surgery Fellowship at Brown University in
Providence, Rhode Island. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the
American College of Surgeons, and the National Association of Spine Specialists.

Dr. Parks trained extensively in disorders and injuries of the spine, and offers a comprehensive
range of spine treatments designed to address both common and complex conditions. He performs
minimally invasive surgeries, as well as motion-preserving options like disc replacement, advanced
care for disc herniations, spine fractures, and spinal stenosis. Dr. Parks also specializes in cervical
and lumbar decompressions, fusions, and revision spinal surgeries.
