KOME is a theory and pure research-oriented journal of communication studies and related fields. Therefore theoretical researches and discussions that help to understand better, or reconceptualize the understanding of communication or the media are its center of interests; being either an useful supplement to, or a reasonable alternative to current models and theories. Given the connection between

theory and empirical research, we are open to submissions of empirical papers if the research demonstrates a clear endorsement of communication and media theories. We are also committed to the ideas of trans- and interdisciplinarity and prefer topics that are relevant for more than one special discipline of social sciences. Articles published in KOME should represent the diversity that comprises the study of communication and related disciplines, regardless of philosophical paradigms and in favor of methodological pluralism. KOME encourage the use of non-sexist language in research writing.

Dear Authors and Readers,

We announce that, from 2023 March, the new owner and publisher of KOME is the University of Public Service (UPS), Hungary, which has acquired the founding and publishing rights from the founding editor, Dr. János József Tóth. KOME was launched in 2011 under the leadership of Dr. Tóth as a theory-oriented open access journal of communication and media studies, with the aim to offer new opportunities for publishing manuscripts during a time when the need for an effective internationalization of Hungarian communication and media research became increasingly apparent. UPS is committed to maintaining the quality standards that our authors and readers experienced in the past decade, and we ask everyone for their continued support in the years to come.

Hazai társadalom- és humántudományos kutatóközpontokban dolgozó kutatók nemzetközileg jegyzett teljesítményéről közöl adatokat a KOME új adatcikke:

Prestige and independence-controlled publication performance of researchers at 14 Hungarian research institutions between 2014 and 2018 – a data paper

A cikkben közölt adatok alkalmasak lehetnek a fenti kérdésekre reagáló tudománypolitikai döntések támogatására.

Dean Cummings's article represents how the broadcast news corporations plan to involve the Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) in their employee structure. The metaphor of McDonaldization is used to portray schematized training in a minimalized timeframe and routinized working process. This method targets the younger job-seekers, who prefer to get clear perspectives about all of the transitional requirements (e.g., stages, milestones, and time) they need to fulfill to reach future opportunities. The article discusses the technological and economic reasons behind; for instance, de-skilling employees and filling out their working hours facilitates lower operational costs. /by Timea Vastag/
