Created 21 years ago, Anambra State has carved out a niche for being one of the most-talked about states in Nigeria for reasons very numerous to mention. Politically, economically, socially, the state garners world searchlight in the manner of its excellence and excesses in planning and ex*****on. It used to be a state that survived by just human resources and revenue accruing basically from Internal Generated Revenue (IGR). Today, Anambra State is an oil producing state! It used to be a quagmire of a terrain, laden with political mines indiscriminately laid by agents of diverse political godfathers. Today, Anambra State has broken the jinx of having a governor win a second-term in office, a governor without any godfather lighting up his arse…
It used to be a state with terrible roads that are barely motorable. Today, it has the best network of tarred roads of all states in the country…
It used to have dilapidated school buildings, where teachers abandon pupils and students for petit trades in an aftermath of months of unpaid salaries. Today, Anambra schools are the best in structure, equipment and learning, which are aptly exemplified in recent NECO and WAEC results. The teaching profession has suddenly become a very noble one…
It used to be a state where youths have disdainful disrespect to elders. Today, good values have returned, exemplified by the great honour accorded to traditional leaders, elders’ council, clerics, etc…
It used to be a state with fragrant disregard to professionals. Today, perm secs, judges, university dons, medical practitioners, contractors, farmers, teachers, civil servants, etc are appropriately compensated…
It used be a den of dare-devil robbers and political assassins… today the ugly menace has been cubed to a very manageable minimum…
Kidnap suddenly sprouted and seemed to nestle its devious headquarters in the state. Today, it has been confronted head-on and the unfortunate trend is gradually fading …
It used to be a state where local and foreign investors dreaded to thread … Today, our dear state is an investors haven, brimming with long-term investments mostly in the production sector…
It used to be …it used to be…it used to be…
However, it can be better! Rome was not built in a day but the decision to build it was made in a day. Make your own decision today, contribute to however you feel Anambra State should be made better…
Of course, you can criticise but please, do so constructively. Choose your words well. Every discuss here will be forwarded to the Anambra State Government House Link. God bless you as you contribute.
