And we don’t want to wait

WHAT IS PATIENCE?
Patience can be defined as the ability to bear pain or trials calmly while enduring waiting or delay. The patient person is not hasty or impetuous, but is persevering and steadfast, despite difficulties or adversity

A lot is gained through patience.
It not only shows a strength of character, but also the ability to be well behaved while waiting for results or answers.

A wise man said, "The hardest test in life is having the patience to wait for the right moment"

"To lose patience is to lose the battle" - Mahatma Ghandi

George Savile also opined that "A man who is a master of PATIENCE is a master of everything else"

I could go on and on about the need for PATIENCE.

In all we do, we must understand that God has perfect timing. He’s never early. He’s never late. It takes a little PATIENCE and a little faith to get what you want and it is always worth the wait.

There is a reason they say, "the patience dog eats the fattest bone"
George Bernard Shaw said, "Two things define you: your PATIENCE when you have nothing and your ATTITUDE when you have everything."

Pride: A B***Y TRAP!

Pride is attractive.

Yes.
The urge show off one's beauty, riches, achievements, intelligence can be difficult to resist.

Does this mean it's wrong for one to acknowledge one's achievements?
Not at all..

History have never smiled on the proud.

All through the Bible, there are myriads of examples of men that met sad ends because of their pride.

Nebuchadnezzar was turned into a grass-eating beast just because he expressed excessive pride in his achievements,

The rich man in the story of Lazarus didn't live long enough to enjoy the fruits of his labour.

Napoleon Bonaparte's allies started resenting him because they felt he was too proud and arrogant.

Proud people are always despised by even their closest pals.

Infact, nobody likes a proud person.

Not even God.

James 4:6 says, ‘God hates the proud, but gives Grace to the humble'.

Psalm 138:6 says , ‘For though the Lord is exalted,
Yet He regards the lowly, But the haughty He knows from afar'

Isaiah 2:12 - For the Lord of hosts will have a day of reckoning. Against everyone who is proud and lofty and against everyone who is lifted up, that he may be abased.

Passages like this are found everywhere in the Bible.

The devil was said to be proud.
The end result: He was cast down from heaven and thrown into an eternal battle with God and the angels.

Pride is a trap. One that should be avoided at all cost.
It alienates you from your loved ones.
And sets you up for destruction.

Be humble.

*PARENTAL NEGLIGENCE*

A shepherd has a single duty: to take care of the flock of sheep put in his care. In discharging his duties, he encounters a lot of challenges like harsh weather, wild animals and rough terrains but in all these, he always ensures that not one sheep gets lost or missing.

In the Gospel of Luke chapter 15 vs 4, Jesus told them this parable. "Which of you men, if you had one hundred sheep, and lost one of them, wouldn't leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one that was lost, until he found it? When he has found it, he carries it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

If a shepherd can attach such importance to a sheep put under his care, how much more the children God has given us.

Our society is becoming a scary place for children.
Daily, they are exposed to all of manner of evil and to make matters worse, parents are always to busy to even know what their children are up to.

Recently, a video of underaged children having s*x surfaced on social media and as expected, it was met with different reactions from different quarters.
Blames were heaped on the teachers of the students, the school and social media but funny enough, no one really took time to apportion blames where it should be directed to: the home.
Charity begins at home.

The said video has served to expose the fact that parental negligence is at it's worst.
Career parents have chosen to neglect children that God put in their care in exchange for material things. Worse still, some parents even encourage despicable acts carried out by children.
The bible said in Matthew 18:6,
“If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea"

We don't just have a parental responsibility to our children, we also have a biblical mandate to bring them up in the ways of the Lord.

We need to become more intentional about parenting for the sake of the future generation.
We owe it to our children. We owe it to God. We owe it to ourselves. We owe it to the society.
