Studies show that when you vividly imagine a goal, it activates the same brain pathways as physically working toward it. Whether it’s through a vision board full of images that signify goals you’re working towards, mentally rehearsing a big presentation, or visualizing crossing the finish line of a race, the process helps clarify the path ahead.

It’s impossible to ignore the devastation caused by the LA fires — experts are saying they could be the costliest wildfire disaster in American history. Thousands of homes have been destroyed, over 130,000 residents are under evacuation orders, and there's still a long battle ahead to contain these fires. The destruction, heartbreak, and challenging conditions are overwhelming. Our hearts are with everyone affected, from those who have lost homes to the firefighters risking their lives to contain the blazes. 💔

Many of us know someone who has lost their home and/or business and it's likely they're in shock and still trying to process the situation. The link to the article by the LA Times, shared this morning by our friend, Civil Rights Attorney Areva Martin, provides important information and possible next steps. If you're a close friend or family member from outside of the area, this info can potentially help you help them. There is also a list of vetted organizations who can use our support helping those on the ground:

Every business needs an active and engaged social media presence. Customers expect to be able to communicate with you and learn about your offerings via these platforms.

To stay relevant and grow, you have to go beyond the baseline, educating and entertaining potential customers so they learn about your brand. Even the most well-known global brands like Coca-Cola, Nike, and McDonald’s consistently advertise to stay top of mind and maintain the perceptions that people have about their brands.

Here are a few tried and true platforms we always recommend:

Facebook: With tools like Business Suite and Ads Manager, and features like local targeting and personalized recommendations, Facebook is making it easier for small businesses to connect with audiences and grow.

Instagram: Instagram has become a hub for users to connect with brands in meaningful ways. Studies show that over 90% of Instagram users follow at least one brand, and the platform is highly effective for fostering brand loyalty. Features like Stories, Reels, and interactive polls encourage engagement, making Instagram a go-to platform for brands looking to build authentic connections with their audience.

Meta Ads: A daily budget of at least $20 helps reach new audiences, keeps your page active, and reminds customers about your services.

Google Business: An optimized and regularly updated page is crucial for providing accurate information that appears in searches on the world’s top search platform.

YouTube: As the second-largest search engine, YouTube is essential for educating and engaging users. With billions searching for how-to videos and product reviews, it’s a powerful platform for showcasing expertise and building trust.

Google Ads: While not every business needs them, we see YouTube, Performance Max, and Search campaigns consistently deliver excellent results.

If your business has a solid digital strategy and you have the consistent capital to get louder and reach people beyond what you believe your target audience to be, then consider traditional media platforms like radio, television, magazines or billboards.

These are still highly trusted platforms that can help elevate your brand depending on your market. That said, they're also more expensive and require high-quality ad production and repetition to work effectively.

🧠 Platforms will continue to integrate AI for campaign optimization, idea generation, and enhancing the online shopping experience. We’ll be testing, learning, and staying agile to stay ahead.

🎬 Short-form video will remain a staple, but long-form video is making a comeback, offering greater depth, storytelling opportunities, and value for audiences.

🎙️ With over 1 billion voice searches performed each month (via Alexa, Siri, Google Assistant, Cortana etc.), content must reflect how people naturally speak. Prioritizing conversational language and concise answers will be key to connecting effectively.

Hey y’all, Emmalie here! 👋 As a chronic reader, I’m usually juggling at least 3 books at a time. I picked up Unreasonable Hospitality in the fall, and I’m still reflecting on Will Guidara’s insights. While it’s rooted in the restaurant world, the lessons in it are incredibly relevant to everyday interactions—especially how we approach engaging online.

In marketing, our goal isn’t to push products or services; it’s about genuinely connecting. Whether it’s a thoughtfully crafted message, a personalized response, or content designed to add real value, we can create experiences that center on making people feel seen and heard—moving beyond the status quo and practicing unreasonable hospitality in digital spaces.

We're seeing in real-time why having a strategy beyond just one platform matters. We’ve never recommended TikTok as a primary strategy to our clients because it has been steeped in controversy since it launched in the US in 2018, and now with its uncertain future, we feel for all of the creators and small businesses who have poured so much heart into building up their online communities and are now facing the impossible decision of what to do in the face of a potential ban. (We are big fans of the platform and hope they come to a resolution soon!)

Despite occasional hiccups—like today’s outage—Meta (Facebook and Instagram) have proven their staying power and continue to be among the world's most popular (and powerful) social platforms that have created more accessible and effective ways for businesses to share information and target relevant communities with affordable monthly advertising budgets.

Since the beginning we've stood by the fact that businesses need a well-rounded marketing and communication strategy that at minimum includes:

🌐 A user-friendly website
✉️ Monthly email marketing (regular communication with your subscribers)
💬 Active organic social media platforms where you can engage with your community
💲 And consistent paid digital ads (ideally on Google and Meta) to experience effective business growth.
