Hungarian authorities have banned Pécs Pride, scheduled for 4 October 2025. This is the second time this year that a Pride event has been blocked in the country. Earlier, Budapest Pride was also prohibited, yet a record-breaking 300,000 people still took to the streets. The march in Budapest was ultimately able to go ahead because it was organised by the city municipality rather than private individuals, which provided legal protection against the ban.
