D373 Digital Outreach Strategies to help your church go where people in your community are gathered.

At D373 we know you want to be a church that is great at effectively communicating to people outside your walls. In order to do that you need digital outreach strategies and processes your team can use all year long. The problem is most churches don’t have the team or the resources to create these digital plans, which leaves them feeling like they can’t reach people where they are gathering. We be

lieve churches that have a winning digital
outreach strategy are the ones that are more
effectively reaching their communities for the
Gospel. We understand your teams are often balancing far too many plates and struggle to keep up with all the responsibilities that are in front of them. This is why we work with churches all over the country to create digital strategies and equip staff and volunteers to successfully implement these strategies. Our services include social media strategy and management, web site development, guest services evaluation and design, graphic design, and staff coaching.

HOT TAKE 🔥
Pages vs Groups: We address this topic at least 4-5 times a week with churches around the country. And when every ministry has its own page (disconnected from the umbrella of the church), it creates silos and disconnect. Migrating to Ministry Groups offers a win/win scenario for everyone because you create Cross Generational Influence.

1. It tears down ministry silos.
Think about all the different groups within your church—Students, kids, young adults, seniors, and probably so many more. Cross-generational influence helps break down these walls. When people of all ages work together, everyone benefits. It creates a stronger, more united church.

2. It cultivates unity among all age groups.
Imagine a church where everyone feels connected, regardless of their age. That's what cross-generational influence does. It brings people together, fostering a sense of unity and belonging. When different generations interact, it builds stronger relationships and a more cohesive community.

3. It makes communication for any event much easier.
Planning an event? Cross-generational influence can simplify things. When all age groups are on the same page, communication flows more smoothly. It ensures that everyone knows what's happening and feels included, making events more successful and enjoyable for everyone.

4. It optimizes the algorithms to work in your favor, helping you reach more people in your community.
In today's digital age, reaching more people online is crucial. By embracing cross-generational influence, you're not just connecting within your church but also extending your reach in the community. It boosts your online presence, making it easier to spread your message and engage with more people.

Cross-generational influence helps different generations learn from each other, grow together, and share useful ideas and information. It's about building a church where everyone feels valued and connected, no matter their age.

And it's been dead for a good while...😬

Incoming hot take, and it may be an unpopular Church creative opinion…so buckle up.

Unless you are a big brand, Fortune 500 company, artist, or band…the grid is dead, and I would almost argue it's dead for them as well, but "only mostly dead".

This will inevitably upset church creatives who value the aesthetic and beauty of the grid, and I get that. However, for a church— to the people that you are trying to reach, it matters not. In fact, with current algorithms leaning into Discovery “mode”, posts and content have a much longer shelf life, so the need for the grid has decreased significantly. Trust me, I hate to burst that bubble that you are so convinced is needed…but most people are not going to your Instagram profile on the regular (if at all), even if they are seeing and engaging with your content.

It’s time wasted. Focus on good content rather than trying to make your grid pretty and cohesive. That’s manufactured energy that doesn’t need to be expended any longer.

HOWEVER, if you just want your profile to look pretty, you do you. Just don’t have the expectation that a lot of people will appreciate it the way you do.

Our job is so much fun.
This weekend we were at a church training a team of about 25 church members on how to use their social media platforms to expand the reach of their church and the Kingdom. We love watching the light bulbs go off around the room when they start to understand the power they have!

We always do an experiment to show them. Less than 24 hours later, that experiment post became the most successful post for the church in the last 3 years, reaching thousands of people. It's insane to watch that! And it works every time.

And since we were there for the seminar/workshop, we got to sort of be a mystery guest in their services. And Nathan Gaddis, our president, made the church's photos from the weekend they posted on their social feed! Beanies unite!

If your church would like to know more about what we just described, hit us up! We have something for all sizes of churches.

We filmed a video for a conference we were sponsors for this week that we couldn't attend in person, and our President, Nathan Gaddis, brought the 80's vibe in full force with the opener. We won't bore you with the 15-minute video, but here is the intro that's worth a look.

Worth saying over and over to any and all churches:
Prioritize the cultivation of a Culture of Engagement, and the significance of your content transcends the confines of your church. When your community actively participates by liking, commenting, and sharing on Facebook, as well as interacting with your stories on Instagram, the message resonates well beyond your church boundaries.

Focus on creating a Culture of Engagement and it won't matter what you post...it will extend its reach beyond your church walls into your community when your people engage with the content by liking, commenting, and sharing on Facebook; And liking, commenting, saving, and sharing to stories on Instagram.

A church can have the best pictures on the planet, but if they don't have a Culture of Engagement, their platforms function more like a yearbook than outreach.

In a day and age where social feeds are flooded with content, stand out by focusing on Quality over Quantity. Focus on beauty, truth, inspiration, and education when creating content. Something that makes people stop. A church that has 3-4 quality posts per week will gain more traction than the church that has 10-20 posts per week of billboard type content.

Tough love comin' in hot:
Your community needs more content about WHO you are, and less about events that you're hosting, as difficult as that may be to hear. Highlight what each ministry in your church is doing to meet needs in the community. The next generation cares about what you are doing for the people in your community more than the events you are pushing.

Two things we do at D373 for churches to help build the connection with your community:
1. We engage with businesses, schools, restaurants, etc. in your community, as the church, to create trust and relationships with business owners in your community.
2. We focus our language to the people that are not yet in your church. If we do that, we net the people already in your church with the message of the content.
