📣 Season 8 of the Declarations Podcast: Horror, Hope & Human Rights. Coming soon. 👀

Modern human rights (at least the dominant narrative) originated following the horrors of the two world wars, but are they still useful in that form and conception 75 years later?

We ask how the concept & practice of human rights can remain fit-for-purpose and coevolve with the changing world order.

How can we use human rights to continue to drive a message & practice of hope?

📣 Season 8 of the Declarations Podcast: Horror, Hope & Human Rights. Coming soon. 👀

This season, our questions arise from considering and thinking about the current human rights discourse where both rights and their language and being employed to advocate for greater protection, but simultaneously being used to restrict freedom.

Our latest episode is out now! 🎉

In our eighth episode, host Neema Jayasinghe and panellist Isabella Todini join guest Dr. Lorena Gazzotti, a research fellow at the University of Cambridge and Vice President of the Cambridge branch of the University and Colleges Union (UCU), to discuss the right to strike, why lecturers across the UK have been striking this year, and why urgent action is needed. They focus on lecture strikes and the marking boycott taking place at present. Dr. Gazzotti offers inspiring words on why workers should join unions, and together we envision what the future of higher education could look like – if the right action is taken as soon as possible.
