Richmond, Virginia has been selected as the first host community for American Lodestar, an upcoming national grassroots competition highlighting bipartisan innovation by rising stars in communities across the country. We believe this city’s dynamic growth, growing pains and rich history make it the perfect locale for our new breed of civic engagement.
The winning team will be awarded funding and public awareness to put its proposal into action to the city’s direct benefit.
Severe polarization has become the defining issue of our era, dividing the nation and paralyzing our political institutions. By creating competing teams of rivals – each comprised of one progressive and one conservative-minded citizen, tasked with working together to find solutions to urgent problems in their hometown – bold, new ideas will emerge that provide a roadmap for a new age of American progress.
