Growth Patterns
A man is nothing more than the things he does to get what he wants.
It is an infirmity of our nature to mingle our interests and prejudices with the operation of our reasoning powers, and attribute to the objects of our likes and dislikes qualities they do not possess and effects they can not produce. When you are born your father and mother lost something out of themselves, and they are going to bust a ham trying to get it back, and you are it. They know they can't get it all back but they will get as big a chunk out of you as they can. If one does not make an ego out of gender, one would still know whether one is a man or a woman, gay, straight, bisexual, transgender—whatever else we may think of. But those identities need to fit very loosely and be worn very lightly. All sense of privilege or deprivation that has developed around one’s gender identity, all rigidity regarding proper roles and behaviors for the various genders, must be cut through. The subsistence mentality of a person is a prison in which his personal joy is detained. If you want to live in joy, you don't live for yourself alone. Live for others too.
If the entire world sought to make itself worthy of happiness rather than make itself happy, then the entire world would be happy. I content myself with the fact that the general system of our trade is a system of selfishness, is not dictated by the high sentiments of human nature much less by the sentiments of love and heroism but is a system of distrust not of giving, but of taking advantage. There are some for whom the good of mankind is their primary concern, and others who basically put their own considerations before everyone else. As utterly irrational as it might seem, the greed within most has the most limited vision I can possibly imagine as it has eyes only for the few things it doesn’t have, and it is completely blind to all the many remarkable things that it does.
It is the philosophers, theologians, and evangelists who are said to be filled with pride and bigotry due to the strong convictions that they represent. On the contrary, teachings can be either taken or dismissed; whereas voting is the only thing the average person can do to force everyone to live how they would prefer. A simple vote is among the largest yet most acceptable forms of bigotry, and that is because people play the card only when they feel that in doing so it conveniences themselves. The assumption is that if I expend myself for myself in the end all I’ll be left with is myself, and that alone is frightening. But what I’ve failed to consider is that I have to expend so much of myself living for myself that in the end I’m really left with very little of myself, and that is unimaginably frightening.
Only the foolish would think that wisdom is something to keep locked in a drawer. Only the fearful would feel empowerment is something best kept to oneself, or the few, and not shared with all.Opposites attract only in non-living things like seen in a positively-charged cation and negatively-charged anion; but in a living beings, the attraction is only seen in between the same/similar character, positive or negative, people. Most people don't often realize that they actually disclose their lies to the person who is truly wise by showing their likes for either the celebrity or no famous personality; but further bigger surprise is that many persons even don't worry of it or fear of being caught of their true identity. An evil individual does not feel ever offended by the bad words of the wrong people ,but often by a right word of a good person. A person can always know the character of the people by their face, but it is possible perhaps only to one who says only what he means and ,therefore, remains often on the life's challenging phase.
The true challenge in understanding the people is if the most people don’t understand or they don’t want to understand that they ought to be understanding about themselves. In the past 10 years, we have seen a rise in selfishness: selfies, self-absorbed people, superficiality, self-degradation, apathy, and self-destruction. So I challenge all of you to take initiative to change this programming. Instead of celebrating the ego, let's flip the script and celebrate the heart. Let's put the ego and celebrity culture to sleep, and awaken the conscience. This is the battle we must all fight together to win back our humanity. To save our future and our children. World is in a mess with widespread stress in life because of the fact that most people often try to impress those who have just put on a beautiful dress rather than truly appreciating a beautiful person.
That is the thing about selfish people. they gamble entire beings. entire souls to please their own. one second they are holding you like the world in their lap and the next they have belittled you to a mere picture. a moment. something of the past. one second. they swallow you up and whisper they want to spend the rest of their life with you. but the moment they sense fear. they are already halfway out the door. without having the nerve to let you go with grace. as if the human heart means that little to them
The eyes of love have 20/20 vision when focused on another, and become entirely blind when focused on ourselves.
