Agosin was arraigned before Magistrate, L. Y. Linda on a two counts charge preferred against him by the Lagos State Police Command.

Macron meets Chinese President, discusses Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. President Emmanuel Macron met his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in Beijing on Thursday, as the French leader seeks to dissuade China from supporting Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Macron had said in a speech in the capital that Beijing can play a “major role” in finding a path to peace in the conflict and welcomed China’s “willingness to commit to a resolution”.

Zamfara men arrested for printing fake naira, dollar notes. Men of the Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Co**se have arrested three suspects for their alleged involvement in printing and spending fake naira and dollar notes.
The command’s spokesperson, Ikor Oche, identified the suspects as Kamalu Sani, Uzaifa Muazu and Suleiman Yusuf.

Customs intercept contraband worth N2.8bn in Owerri, arrest13 suspects. The Federal Operations Unit, Zone ’C’, Owerri, of the Nigeria Customs Service intercepted contraband goods valued N2.8 billion between January 25 and March 25.
The unit also arrested 13 suspected smugglers during the period.

Kano driver, conductor nabbed as three passengers die. Three passengers, on Tuesday, lost their lives in a crash on the expressway by Government Technical College, in the Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

Two die, five injured in Bauchi crash. No fewer than two people were killed in a lone fatal crash that occurred on Tuesday in Bauchi State while five others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The Federal Government on Tuesday said the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, risked being prosecuted for treason over some of their utterances on the February 25 presidential election.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, who gave the warning in Washington, United States on Tuesday, said Obi and Baba-Ahmed’s statements amounted to insurrection.

The group advised Adebanjo to “kindly step down as the acting leader of Afenifere in the interest of the organisation and the entire Yoruba race.”

MAN hails suspension of beverages, to***co excise duty hike. The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria has hailed the Federal Government’s decision to halt the proposed increase in excise duty on alcohol, non-alcoholic beverages and to***co.

Nigeria records over $1m capital importation in Q4 2022- NBS. The National Bureau of Statistics says total capital importation in Nigeria stood at 1,060.73 million dollars in quarter four of 2022.

Man strangles pregnant girlfriend in Kano. Men of the Kano State Police Command have arrested one Philibus Ibrahim for allegedly strangling his pregnant girlfriend, 22-year-old Theresa Yakubu.
The News Agency of Nigeria reported that Ibrahim, who committed the offence in Tudun-Wada Local Government Area of the state, was arrested alongside his accomplice, Gabriel Bila, both of Unguwar Korau Tudun-Wada Local Government Area.

Late Osun traditionalist’s abducted wife regains freedom, family demands probe. The family of an Osun-based traditionalist, Oba Adetoyese Olakisan, popularly known as Oba Ogboni Agbaye, on Tuesday, called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding an attack on his house during which two of his wives were abducted.
Olakisan’s house in Imesi-Ile, in the Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, came under attack late on Sunday when armed men reportedly struck and whisked two of his wives to an undisclosed location.

20 displaced as fire guts Rivers apartment. Goods and property worth millions of naira were destroyed in a fire that engulfed a set of apartments at No 9, Awkwuzu Street in the Diobu area of Mile one in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Tuesday.
Over 20 affected occupants of the building were displaced.

Four Lagos ex-convicts nabbed for kidnapping, robbery. The Lagos State Magistrate’s Court sitting in Yaba has ordered the remand of four ex-convicts at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for alleged armed robbery, impersonation and kidnapping.

The defendants, Rasaq Oyinlola, Olushola Adepetu, Moruf Yusuf, and Isreal Emenoge, were on Friday arraigned before Magistrate O. Y. Adefope on seven counts bothering on conspiracy, armed rob¬bery, impersonation and kidnapping.

FG $22bn loan request rejected by Chinese bank – Reps. The House of Representatives, on Tuesday, approved the request by the Federal Government to borrow $973,474,971.38 from China Development Bank.
This followed the decision by the China-Exim Bank to reject Nigeria’s $22,798,446,773 loan request earlier approved by the National Assembly.

Tinubu risked life fighting for democracy, says Sanwo-Olu. Amotekun arrests Ekiti Indian h**p farmer with gun. Operatives of Ekiti State Amotekun Corps have arrested a suspected Indian h**p farmer and another suspect with a wound suspected to be gunshot injuries.

Delta host communities protest pollution. Niger auto crash claims 24, four die in Bauchi. Twenty-four lives were lost in an auto crash that occurred on Monday night in the Lavun Local Government Area of Niger State.
The lone crash involved a truck which was said to be conveying about 87 passengers to Lagos from Zaria, Kaduna State.
