The Federal Government on Tuesday said the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, risked being prosecuted for treason over some of their utterances on the February 25 presidential election.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, who gave the warning in Washington, United States on Tuesday, said Obi and Baba-Ahmed’s statements amounted to insurrection.

The family of an Osun-based traditionalist, Oba Adetoyese Olakisan, popularly known as Oba Ogboni Agbaye, on Tuesday, called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding an attack on his house during which two of his wives were abducted.
Olakisan’s house in Imesi-Ile, in the Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, came under attack late on Sunday when armed men reportedly struck and whisked two of his wives to an undisclosed location.

20 displaced as fire guts Rivers apartment. Goods and property worth millions of naira were destroyed in a fire that engulfed a set of apartments at No 9, Awkwuzu Street in the Diobu area of Mile one in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Tuesday.

FG $22bn loan request rejected by Chinese bank – Reps. The House of Representatives, on Tuesday, approved the request by the Federal Government to borrow $973,474,971.38 from China Development Bank.
This followed the decision by the China-Exim Bank to reject Nigeria’s $22,798,446,773 loan request earlier approved by the National Assembly.

Tinubu risked life fighting for democracy, says Sanwo-Olu. WHO certifies Azerbaijan, Tajikistan malaria-free. The World Health Organisation has certified Azerbaijan and Tajikistan malaria-free for achieving the elimination of malaria in their territories.
The certification follows a sustained, century-long effort to stamp out the disease by the two countries.

Delta host communities protest pollution. Members of Kantu and Odidi oil-bearing communities in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State on Tuesday staged a peaceful protest at Odidi Flow Station in condemnation of “frequent pipeline leaks leading to continuous destruction and degradation of the environment and the means of livelihood of the residents.”

Niger auto crash claims 24, four die in Bauchi. Twenty-four lives were lost in an auto crash that occurred on Monday night in the Lavun Local Government Area of Niger State.
The lone crash involved a truck which was said to be conveying about 87 passengers to Lagos from Zaria, Kaduna State.
