ELECTION UPDATE: Following Tuesday afternoon's automatic recount, the results for the race for the St. Paul City Council remain the same as originally reported.

Mark Wilson: 636
Jerry Woodgate: 453
Jerry Thompson: 447
Chuck Schmid: 374

Wilson and Woodgate will likely be the city's next council members.

These results remain unofficial until after Howard County's canvassing board meets later this week.

In a moment of compromise, the St. Paul Board of Education voted 5-1 on Monday night to place a $14 million bond issue before voters during the November General Election. Seconds before, a vote to place a $16 million bond on the ballot failed 2-4.

"We need something," said Board Member Phil Thede before the first vote. "Bottom line, we have to have something."
