Draw's in a couple days for 'Gas For A Year'!

The Orillia Figure Skating Club's annual 'Gas For A Year' fundraiser is now in full swing!
Tickets are $20 each and are available now from any Star Skater families or contact Heather at [email protected].

You also can buy your ticket at Thai Plate Restaurant and Evans Flowers. It's your chance to win 'Gas For A Year', valued at $2,600.
The draw takes place on Thursday December 16th,2021 @6:30 pm at Rotary Place and will be live-streamed on the Club's page.

These funds help the OFSC cover ice fees for the season. Help support Orillia Figure Skating Club skaters by purchasing a ticket for your chance to win this amazing prize!

A big congrats go out to Zara Vardanyan, November's 'Skater of the Month' as announced by the Orillia Figure Skating Club. 14 year old Zara is working on her Star 6 Skills, Star 4 Freeskate and Keats Foxtrot. She is coached by Tracey Zwiers in the Silver Session. Off-ice, Zara also likes dancing, painting and reading.

The Orillia Figure Skating Club's 'Skater of the Month' for November is Zara Vardanyan. Zara, 14, skates in the Silver Session with the OFSC. She is currently working on her Star 6 Skills, Star 4 Freeskate and her Keats Foxtrot. Outside of skating Zara enjoys dancing, painting and reading. She is coached by Tracey Zwiers.

The Orillia Figure Skating Club (OFSC) is on the ice.
The OFSC congratulates Tori Doherty as October's 'Skater of the Month'.

Tori is 8 years old and skates in the Bronze session with the Orillia Figure Skating Club. She is working on her Star 6 Skills, her Star 3 Freeskate and her Willow Waltz. Tori is part of the club’s Enhancement Team and is coached by Tracey Zwiers.
Outside of skating, Tori enjoys ballet, reading, doing crafts, and playing with her friends and brothers.
The OFSC looks forward to seeing Tori progress throughout the season. Way to go Tori!

A big shout out goes to some fantastic skaters. The Orillia Figure Skating Club salutes those who passed their Gold Assessments.
In 'Skills', the club congratulates Kylie White, Anastasia Baillie, Olivia Neal and Sadie Armstrong.
In 'Dance', Hailey Irwin passed the challenge while Taylor Shaw passed in 'Artistic'.
Tara Handy completed her Gold Assessments in 2 categories - 'Skills' and 'Artistic'
Awesome accomplishments by all!

Despite varying challenges, there were golden moments with the Orillia Figure Skating Club. The OFSC honours their Gold Session skaters for all their hard work & dedication. Congrats to each of you for a job well done!

The Orillia Figure Skating Club congratulates Carlea Wilkie-Ellis, who was the recipient of the 2020-21 “Spirit Award” from Skate Ontario.
Carlea's love and enthusiasm for figure skating did not diminish during the trying COVID times. She arrived at the rink early and welcomed her fellow skaters into the screening area, never once complaining about putting her skates on outside.
She joined in on off-ice sessions on zoom and worked hard to maintain her jumps. Even during the harder elements that she could not do, she still tried and cheered on the skaters who were performing them.
Way to go Carlea! Catch her spirit!

As the season wraps, this month the Orillia Figure Skating Club recognizes their Silver level skaters for their hard work and dedication during the 2020-2021 skating season.
This year skaters had limited ice time, and sometimes no ice time at all but that did not stop this group of skaters from working hard and passing tests throughout the season. The OFSC is extremely proud of each and every skater, and look forward to future accomplishments when all can return to the ice again.

Their positive attitude, strong work ethic and love of the sport, both on and off ice, earned special recognition from the Orillia Figure Skating Club.

This year's 'spirit award' winners are (l-r): Ner K'Pru Shee (bronze sessions), Brynn Warner (silver session) and Hannah Spaeth (gold session).

The Silver session's (left) Chloe and Gold session's (l-r) Anastasia, Olivia & Sadie are this year's 'most improved' skaters in their session as awarded by the Orillia Figure Skating Club.
Their hard work and dedication saw each of them succeed over the past season. Well done!

Now at season's end...

The Orillia Figure Skating Club recognizes their Bronze level skaters for their hard work and dedication during the 2020-2021 skating season.
Due to present circumstances, this group had limited ice time, and sometimes none at all. However, that did not stop these skaters from working hard and passing tests throughout the season. The Club is extremely proud of each and every skater, and looks forward to future accomplishments when we can return to the ice.

More Good Things - Terrier Style

The Orillia Terriers Major Atom rep team entered the Ford 'Skills & Drills' contest for community involvement. This young group finished 2nd of all entries. They won tickets to see a Toronto Maple Leafs game (whenever that may be again). Awesome spirit - congrats team! Enjoy the video that came to us from the Terriers

There is still good

Video from Overtime's South Muskoka edition we're sharing here in Orillia. It'll let you know there's some good out there still. Cory Veitch of Bracebridge was ice fishing when a deer fell through the ice.
