FVM Global Magazine Global Magazine The fashion we seek began in and was central to the last century. In this new century, the borders of fashion have widened even further.

We at FVM GLOBAL MAGAZINE realize that this is a new, adventurous age and seek to recognize those creative individuals who are expanding our consciousness, as well as those who summon up the courage and continue creating, in spite of critics. The twentieth century brought fashion designers to the forefront as never before with the rise of such notables as Coco Chanel, Salvatore Ferragamo, Louis Vu

itton, Christian Dior, Christian Lacroix, Lanvin, and Balman. The electronic and digital revolutions commingle fashion with all other art, as well as entertainment and education. In short, the entire spectrum of human activity, including fashion, has been brought together by twenty-first century technology. FVM Global Magazine examines the "art" of our society and how it is reflected in fashion, literature, music, architecture, and film. An art historian views culture in this way, and we endeavor to stay true to art history. This mixture of influences leads to an opening of the mind to new venues. So, we hope our readers will open the door to these new venues and take the journey with us.

We are examining Pop Art. In doing so, we looked at Andy Warhol, and now we explore Roy Lichtenstein and his use of Ben dey dots that he made famous.

Ben Day Dots relies upon small colored dots (typically cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) that are variously spaced and combined to create shading and colors in images.

Pop Art is an art movement that emerged in the United States and the United Kingdom in the late 1950's and 60's.
The Pop Art movement took inspiration from pop culture: comics and advertising emphasizing the banal in the culture. Pop art is widely interpreted as a reaction to the then-dominant ideas of abstract expressionism,

Roy Fox Lichtenstein October 27, 1923 – September 29, 19an American pop artist. During the 1960s, along with Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, and James Rosenquist, he became a leading figure in the new art movement. His work defined the premise of pop art through parody. Inspired by the comic strip, Lichtenstein produced precise compositions that documented while they parodied, often in a tongue-in-cheek manner. His work was influenced by popular advertising and the comic book style. His artwork was considered to be "disruptive" He described pop art as "not 'American' painting but actually industrial painting".[5] His paintings were exhibited at the Leo Castelli Gallery in New York City.

Lichtenstein began his first pop paintings using cartoon images and techniques derived from the appearance of commercial printing. This phase would continue to 1965, and included the use of advertising imagery suggesting consumerism and homemaking.[11] His first work to feature the large-scale use of hard-edged figures and Ben-Day dots was Look Mickey (1961).

In the course of his life, he has been poisoned, stabbed, and paralyzed. Attempts have been made to drown him. A poisonous snake was placed in his room. He is, however, very much alive today!
