Sally Francis Public Relations
I started my public relations business more than three decades ago after ten years in Dallas radio and television news and features. For many years I was one of the few publicists who had worked in the news business and the only restaurant publicist who had worked in restaurants. Waiting tables was a profitable and educational job while pursuing a news career. And I
was very good at it. Especially working for Phil Cobb and Gene Street at their original Black-eyed Pea, they had a great team system that made us all a lot of money and I can understand why those former owners have done so well. Waiting tables, working in news and working in PR have a lot in common. I worked at radio station KNUS which was a McLendon station, the pioneer of the Top 40 format. Then at WBAP when it was country western, it’s now news talk, I managed news reports in-house mostly and ran the Texas Rangers games on Sundays, back then the game feed came in on a phone land line, when the game was over I hung up the phone. Then I worked in news at KZEW which is in rock music history. Those were several years of a lot of adventures. While at KZEW, “The Zoo”, I was also a feature reporter for PM Magazine at WFAA Channel 8, ABC. My PM Magazine segment was called for most of those years, The Other Side of the Story, and aired every Thursday night for three years. And I worked for a brief time at KERA doing taped voiceovers for that evening’s shows: “Nova, tonight, at 7.”

Polite Suggestions are observations, recommendations, news and views. They are suggestions on ideas to consider, what to do, where to go, what to avoid, making the negative positive, and how to not run people off.
