Australian extreme metal outfit Ploughshare has announced the release of their new album, Second Wound, continuing the sonic devastation they unleashed with their 2018 debut In Offal, Salvation. The new record pushes the boundaries of their genre-defying approach, blending black metal, death metal, doom and dark electronic elements into a singular and visceral experience. Second Wound was written between 2019 and 2022, with members collaborating both together and individually. The album draws thematic inspiration from the anchoress Julian of Norwich’s Revelations of Divine Love, capturing extreme asceticism, bodily privation, and religious fervour. This philosophical depth intertwines with Ploughshare’s intense, unorthodox sound, resulting in a record that is equally aggressive and reflective. Ploughshare’s collective approach to songwriting allows their music to emerge organically, unrestrained by specific genre conventions, while still maintaining a disciplined focus. Their bold experimentation ensures that Second Wound will further solidify the band’s reputation for crafting some of the most innovative and challenging metal in the underground scene.

The Sorathian Dawn “Radiant Terror” vinyl has arrived and is shipping out this week for all who preordered. There are two colour options, green (ltd to 60 copies) and dark plum red (ltd to 90 copies). All preorders will receive the more limited green option. Thanks to everyone who’s ordered.
