This might shock to some people but digestion doesn't actually start in the gut.
I’ve done a bit of research and looking into it all just blows my mind.
Digestion starts in the brain before food even enters your mouth! When we anticipate or smell food, our brain sends signals to stimulate the release of digestive enzymes and gastric juices in our stomach. If it doesn't smell or taste like it is, your body won't make the proper digestive enzymes. This is why we struggle to digest processed foods or foods manipulated to be something else.
And guess what else?!
Stress can hinder the digestion process. During the fight-or-flight response, triggered by stress, our body directs resources away from digestion to deal with the threat our body thinks is there. This can lead to reduced blood flow to the digestive organs and decreased enzyme secretion, inhibiting proper digestion.
But as a result, the digestive process becomes compromised, leading to symptoms such as constipation, bloating, and food intolerances.
Interestingly, chronic stress can have a profound impact on digestion, even if we don't consciously perceive ourselves as being stressed. Our bodies can become so accustomed to being in a stressed state that it becomes our new normal. This chronic activation of the fight-or-flight response can disrupt the delicate balance of the digestive system and contribute to ongoing digestive issues.
To promote healthy digestion, I take these. It does what we cannot because I myself have been working hard to keep stress levels down but I don't know about you, dealing with family things, the economy being insane right now, bills piling up and being an entrepreneur doesn't always allow me to have a low stress levels.
Just another wellness tool by the store I get all the things from. 📦🇺🇸🌱
