Isaac Success Omoyele, a passionate and driven individual, is making a remarkable difference in the lives of individuals living in the slums of Ajegunle, Lagos, Nigeria. Through his organization, Dreams From The Slum Empowerment Initiative, Isaac has dedicated himself to addressing the pressing issues of poverty and lack of quality education. His unwavering commitment and innovative solutions have transformed the lives of countless children and youths, providing them with hope, opportunities, and a chance to realize their dreams.

Isaac's journey started in Ajegunle, where he experienced firsthand the hardships and challenges faced by children living in poverty. He went to school without basic necessities, endured hunger, and even dropped out due to financial constraints. However, Isaac's life took a turning point when he received a full academic scholarship, which ignited his desire to pay it forward. This personal experience served as the catalyst for the birth of DFTS Empowerment Initiative.

DFTS Empowerment Initiative focuses on using education, empowerment, and mentorship to transform the lives of individuals in the slum areas of Ajegunle. Through their various programs and initiatives, they strive to combat poverty and provide quality education to those who need it the most.

One of the organization's core initiatives is the establishment of MY DREAM STEAD SCHOOL, a tuition-free primary and junior secondary school. This school provides access to education for out-of-school children, offering them a chance to break the cycle of poverty. Additionally, DFTS Empowerment Initiative supports low-cost schools within Ajegunle through their Ajegunle Food Bank project, which ensures that children receive nutritious meals, promoting effective learning and improving health.

Recognizing the importance of skills development, the initiative runs a skill acquisition centre, empowering youths and women with valuable vocational skills. By equipping them with practical skills, DFTS Empowerment Initiative enables individuals to become self-sustainable, providing them with opportunities for economic growth and a pathway to a better future. Furthermore, the organization offers mentorship and career guidance, helping individuals navigate their personal and professional journeys.

Isaac's approach to problem-solving is rooted in his firm belief that challenges are opportunities for growth and transformation. He emphasizes the importance of innovation and encourages others to embrace complex problems as stepping stones to success. His unwavering determination and positive outlook have enabled him to overcome obstacles and stay focused on his mission, despite the daunting nature of the issues he faces.

Through his dedicated efforts, Isaac has significantly reduced the number of out-of-school children in Ajegunle. His initiatives have not only provided education but have also alleviated hunger and improved academic performance. Isaac's impactful work has garnered recognition both locally and internationally, shining a spotlight on the critical importance of quality education and poverty alleviation.
Isaac Success Omoyele's relentless pursuit of empowering dreams and creating sustainable change is an inspiration to all. His organization, Dream From the Slum (DFTS) Empowerment Initiative, stands as a beacon of hope in Ajegunle, offering a lifeline to the less privileged and transforming their lives through education and empowerment. At age 22 in 2013, Isaac founded Dreams from the Slum (DFTS) Empowerment Initiative to contribute his quota to solving the problem of poverty and reducing the high number of out of school children in Nigeria which contributes to the sustainable development goal 1 (No poverty) and goal 4 (Quality Education).

This initiative uses formal, informal and apprenticeship education as a tool for transformation, promoting literacy among the economically disadvantaged. DFTS also runs an educational centre which houses a library, a low-cost school, and a training centre.

Every year, this initiative supports a minimum of 5,000 people (Women & Children) with provision of scholarships, Educational materials, business start-up grant and food supplies in three states across Nigeria (Lagos—Araromi Community in Ajegunle; Benin—Uhogua IDP camp; Ibadan—Oje Community).

This is why he has been nominated for the future awards under Community Impact Category and he would really need your vote to win.

that about 13.2 million children in Nigeria are out of school?

90% of students that are not in school are at primary age – around 9 million children have never gone to school at all, which shows how pupils can be totally excluded from the education system if early opportunities are missed.
