Our new heat pump didn't qualify for the big $ incentives offered in WA for switching (we replaced a failed heat pump, not a furnace). But if you're thinking about it for your home in a cold climate, read this thorough piece in the Seattle Times by Hal Bernton . We've had a very cold winter and nothing but good things to say about heat pumps.
