Farewell To Longtime WRAL News Director
It's the end of an era at WRAL. Our news director, Rick Gall, is calling it a career after nearly 30 years at the Big 5. Every word said in this video is true.
Rick is steady, thoughtful, kind, considerate, and has an unwavering commitment to serving our viewers. We will all miss him dearly. WRAL TV
**ON THE RECORD TONIGHT**
The growing number of people who say they studied or worked in NC State’s Poe Hall who now have cancer has been alarming to follow. We wouldn’t know the extent of the health complications potentially tied to this one building, without the extensive reporting of WRAL Keely Arthur and the 5 On Your Side Team. I sit down with them for On The Record tonight at 7 on WRAL TV. It’s worth your time.
STILL BEAMING from meeting these brilliant, thoughtful, creative students at Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School! This event allowed juniors and seniors to sit down with professional women of color who've excelled in STEM fields. And these students asked SUCH important questions! I can't wait to see these girls SOAR! Check it out! WRAL TV

Durham Teacher Honored By President & NBC Show!
INCREDIBLE PEOPLE -- GOOD NEWS!
Loved this interview last night with Durham Public Schools' Lakewood elementary teacher, Turquoise Parker. Her inspiring community work feeding thousands of students in Durham caught the attention of both the White House and the NBC show "The Wall." Now she and her husband will compete for some BIG money on FRIDAY's show!

HEARTBREAKING & SOBERING
I'm still processing our interview with longtime NBC News correspondent Martin Fletcher, who's reported on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict for decades. His assessment of what may happen to Israeli hostages and to hundreds of thousands of Gazans forced to evacuate is dire. Take a listen for a FACTUAL analysis of what's ahead. WRAL TV
ARE YOU READY?! Turn on WRAL TV at 9 to see if the fantastic 82nd Airborne Division Chorus wins America's Got Talent!
We loved hearing from a couple of the members live at 5:30 today! They're winners in my book either way!
State Takeover At Nash DSS
We broke the news this week that the state would be taking over Child Welfare Services at Nash DSS. It comes after our investigation into the deaths of two children in their care, Christal Lane and Chase Hilliard.
In a stunning rebuke of Nash DSS, the state said, "Concerns about safety planning have continued, creating a substantial risk to children, and have led to children being harmed.”
I went to Nash County hours after the announcement to report on the development that even shocked county leaders. Here's that story. @WRAL TV
TONIGHT ONLY on WRAL TV: How Christal Lane died is shocking. Learning Nash County social services had a chance to protect her and they did NOT led to outrage and a state investigation.
At 6, what a months-long WRAL investigation into the agency revealed. Tune in for my and Keenan Willard’s report.
Christal Lane had bright, curious eyes. Her innocent smile made it even harder to grasp the violent way she died.
For months, my colleagues and I have investigated the circumstances around her death, and the failures of the Nash County department of social services to keep her safe.
We interviewed social workers, local law enforcement and dug through court records. And what we found may shock you. TOMORROW, watch our exclusive report on WRAL TV at 6pm.
WEEKEND PLANS?? Turn on FOX 50 at 10 for WRAL Mike Maze’s forecast. Lots going on this weekend between Juneteenth and Father’s Day.
