Journalism Training Empowers Ya Lisa Upper and Senior School Press Club
Saturday 11th November 2023
This Saturday marked a significant milestone for the Ya Lisa Upper and Senior Secondary School Press Club as we delivered a successful training in basic journalism and news writing techniques.
The initiative, organised by the school administration through the teacher coordinators of the club, aimed to enhance the capacities of club members who are passionate about covering news and presenting it during the school's weekly assemblies and on the notice board.
Awa Dampha, our basic journalism specialist, guided participants through the fundamentals of journalism and its crucial role within school settings and beyond.
Muna Sillameh complemented the training by delivering a session on public speaking and the art of poetry, providing effective guidelines on how students can elevate their literary passion.
Ebrima Bah, our Chief Executive Officer, led the training on writing skills and news presentation styles, engaging participants in practical activities to reinforce their learning.
Mr. Kujabi, the Teacher Coordinator, and Mr. Abdulie Sanneh, the event organiser, warmly welcomed the initiative, expressing their commitment to continuing support for their students as they navigate their desired careers in journalism.
The Principal of Ya Lisa Upper and Senior Secondary School, Mr. Baboucar Jarju, expressed his delight at the success of the training. He eagerly anticipates more training initiatives in the future and challenged the school-based press club members to share the knowledge they gained with their fellow students.
The training equipped the students with practical skills and served as a source of inspiration and encouragement for those aspiring to pursue careers in journalism.
