In 1993, at age 29, I had a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ. In 1999 I went to Regents Bible College, feeling called to be a pastor, however, through illness and other events and opportunities, I returned to the world of business. Staying involved in church, but also very involved in business. We lost our daughter Hannah. She was a bright star, full of compassion and love, but during her time at Keele University, she became depressed and in August 2015 she took her own life....

Today is World NGO Day

NGO’s or Non-Governmental Organisations help people in need because of poverty, natural disasters or wars but they are not “the government” and are often funded by the generosity of donors and staffed by volunteers.

There are over 10M NGO’s in the world and over 50M people working in the sector.

Today is a day to recognise and support the work of NGO’s. I want to mention a few specifically.
MAF, mission aviation fellowship fly vital supplies into hard to reach areas. Our friends Amanda and Peter Fryatt work for MAF.
International Needs UK. Many friends support this NGO by sponsoring children.
GAIN Global Aid Network who I volunteer with, and Samaritan’s Purse for whom I’m part of the disaster relief roster.
I’ve put links these NGO’s in the comments so you can find more information about them.

NGO’s do a lot of good in the world for which I’m very grateful. 🙂

World NGO Day is an important annual marking point for NGOs to celebrate their achievements, as well as allowing small, grassroots

On holiday we visited Hillsong Church, Sydney. I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy it because, if I’m honest, I’m a bit uncomfortable in big churches, and I’ve heard negative stories about certain “mega” churches. However, we were in Sydney and some friends from our house group were keen for us to go and report back. I needed to get over my prejudice!...

Happy Shrove Tuesday folks. “Shrove” Tuesday is the day of preparation for Lent which starts tomorrow. It’s a day to forget your diet, eat pancakes and other goodies, and get ready for 40 days of cutting something out, symbolising the time Christ spent in the wilderness preparing for his ministry. It leads up to Easter when the church celebrates Christ’s victory over sin and death through the cross and resurrection. It’s a very important time in the Christian tradition.

A review How pretentious of me to write a review of a book like this, so far above my own literary skills and way beyond my life experiences. But a greater sin would be to not write something, and for not enough people to read it. And the chance that it might not be turned into a film or a TV series....

Just wanted to talk about prayer, not in an instructional way but more of an exploration. I want to know more about what God wants. In 2 Chronicles 7:14 God says, if my people who are called by my name, would humble themselves and pray, I will heal their land. God doesn’t demand that we pray, He i...

The Great Event Foretold. We talked about the “Three Wise Man” who followed a star to find the new king. They were inspired to do it because they knew the ancient writings predicting a star would appear to signal the birth of a special new king. Around 740 years before that first Christmas a man...

Colossians 3:12-17 - Paul, a man of lists. 12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Psalm 91 1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a] 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” 3 Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. 4 He will cover you with...

Hiding Place Psalm 143:8 In this world of increasing electronic surveillance, privacy can be hard to find. In the Bible, God refers to Himself as a place of refuge, or hiding place.
