Faithful Servants of God Blessed is that slave whom his master finds so doing when he comes…

Luke 1:50 NASB95
"And HIS MERCY IS UPON GENERATION AFTER GENERATION TOWARD THOSE WHO FEAR HIM.

Luke 21:9 NASB95
When you hear of wars and disturbances, do not be terrified; for these things must take place first, but the end does not follow immediately."

21:9 “When you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.”NIV Just as false messiahs and religious frauds come and go (21:8), so do political and natural crises. Wars and revolutions . . . must happen first as part of God’s divine plan; however, these do not signal the end (the end of the world). The disciples probably assumed that the temple would only be destroyed at the end of the age as part of God establishing his new kingdom. Jesus taught that horrible events would happen, but the end will not come right away. Believers should not be frightened. God will not lose control of his creation, and his promises will come true.

Psalm 49:7 NASB95
No man can by any means redeem his brother Or give to God a ransom for him.

49:7-9, 15 In the slave market of the ancient world, a slave had to be redeemed or ransomed—someone had to pay the price in order for them to go free. In Mark 10:45, Ephesians 1:7, and Hebrews 9:12, we learn that Jesus paid such a price so that we could be set free from slavery to sin in order to begin a new life with him.
You cannot buy eternal life with God. Even if you give away millions to charity, you can’t earn God’s favor. Only God can redeem your soul; only he can pay the price. Don’t make the accumulation of material wealth the purpose of your life. No amount of wealth can keep you from dying or buy your way into heaven.

Promises from God

Psalm 147:3
He heals the brokenhearted, binding up their wounds.

Isaiah 1:18
No matter how deep the stain of your sins, I can remove it. I can make you as clean as freshly fallen snow. [God forgets all our sins]

Isaiah 40:31
But those who wait on the Lord will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. [God gives renewed strength to the weary]

Ezekiel 36:26
And I will give you a new heart with new and right desires, and I will put a new spirit in you. [God gives us a new heart and new desires]

Amos 5:4
Come back to me and live! [Seek God and live]

Romans 5:10
For since we were restored to friendship with God by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be delivered from eternal punishment by his life.

2 Corinthians 5:17
those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new life has begun! [When you become a Christian you are a new person]

1 Peter 5:10
In his kindness God called you to his eternal glory by means of Jesus Christ. After you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.

How can I possibly obey all God’s commandments consistently? Doesn’t God expect every human being to fail at one time or another?

Deuteronomy 8:1
“Be careful to obey all the commands I am giving you today.”

1 John 2:3
We can be sure that we know him if we obey his commandments.

The rule for perfect living is to obey all of God’s commandments. But no one is perfect. That’s why Jesus Christ died for us, to forgive our sins. The key, therefore, is to consistently try to obey God’s commandments, realizing that we will fail in some. At the point of our failures, we need to consistently seek Jesus and his forgiveness.

Why is brokenness such an important attitude to develop?

Psalm 147:3
He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.

Lesson:
God promises to draw close to you when you are brokenhearted about sin in your life. When you turn to God in brokenness over your sin, he begins to heal and restore you.

“For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭1‬:‭10‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ.

Millions Are Not Sure

A prominent businessman and a leader in his church, a wife of an evangelist who had been introducing thousands of people to Christ for the past thirty years, a student who had just received Christ…

All of them have the same question:

“How can I be sure Christ has come into my life?”

All are desperately seeking assurance of their salvation, desperate to know for sure.

Perhaps you, too, are uncertain about your relationship with the Lord.

From my experience of counseling many thousands of students and lay people throughout the years, I have become convinced that millions of church-goers have invited Christ into their lives, many of them over and over again, but are not sure of their salvation. In fact, surveys indicate that 50 percent of the church members in the United States are not sure Christ is in their lives. These are good people. Often, they have served faithfully in their church for years. And yet, they still have no assurance of Christ's abiding presence, no confidence that, if they died today, they would go to be with the Lord in heaven.

Why does this heartbreaking uncertainty exist among so many devoutly religious people? I am persuaded that their lack of assurance is due either to misinformation or to a lack of information regarding who God is. This includes understanding the deity of Christ, the meaning of the crucifixion and the resurrection of our Lord, and what is involved in receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

Permit me to ask you this personal, so very important, question: What about you? If you were to die today, are you absolutely sure, beyond a shadow of a doubt, you would go to heaven?

Isaiah 59:2 NASB95
But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.

Life Lesson:
God may refuse to hear our prayers when we stubbornly refuse to abandon some sin or evil course of action. Peter says, for example, that husbands may hinder their prayers by treating a spouse with disrespect (1 Pet. 3:7).

Ruth 1:16 NASB95
But Ruth said, "Do not urge me to leave you or turn back from following you; for where you go, I will go, and where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God.

Life Lesson:
You reap what you sow, more than you sow, and later than you sow. The grains of love and faithfulness Naomi had planted in Ruth’s life produced a rich harvest of loyalty and trust. Thankfully, Naomi’s influence also had a positive impact on Ruth’s relationship with the Lord.

Psalm 90:12 NASB95
So teach us to number our days, That we may present to You a heart of wisdom.

Life application:
Psalm 90:12 Realizing that life is short helps us use whatever time we have more wisely and for eternal good. Take time to number your days by asking, “What can I do to grow in wisdom before I die? What small step could I take toward fulfilling God’s purpose today?”
