Meriden City Councilor Joseph Scaramuzzo and his wife Stephanie have struggled for more than a decade to adopt two Haitian girls only to lose their information pipeline last week when the CBP One website and app went dark by order of President Donald Trump.

The couple volunteers regularly for the Haitian charity founded by Scaramuzzo, Generations of Hope, Haiti Inc., and established a relationship with the girls many years ago.

They were in the final step when they requested the advanced travel authorization via the CBP One App and were waiting for final approval.
