If you're interested in hydroponic growing then you'll know that it can be expensive to start from scratch. The very first thing you'll need is a way to get your seeds started and I'm cutting apart these cheap seed cell trays to use as pots in my hydroponic system. The bonus here is that I can start the seeds in these cells right in a water bed and not have to transplant them so this will be a big labor savings also.

Because this is a flat of 72 cells it no longer works in my garden setup - I prefer 6 cell trays so I'd set this flat aside and now am happy to have a use for it.

True confessions - this is the pretty pic, the reality is I mixed it together before serving and it was delish!

Popcorn gone stale? Don't toss it, nuke it! Microwave for 30 seconds, stir. Let cool for a minute then taste. If its crisly then you're good, if not then nuke for another 30 seconds, stir, cool, taste. Once its crispy maybe you'll want to make a healthy caramel corn.
4 Caramel Sugar-free Popcorn
Drizzle melted SF chocolate over popcorn. Place in fridge to cool while making caramel sauce.
Melt 1/4 cup butter in medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir in 2/3 - 1 cup SF sweetener & 1 teaspoon molasses or date syrup. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low & stir constantly for 5 minutes. Remove from heat, stir in 1/3 teaspoon baking soda, 1/3 teaspoon vanilla extract & 1/4 teaspoon salt (optional). Drizzle 1/3 of the syrup over popcorn. Place in fridge to cool. Place pan on burner set to warm, stir in 1 tablespoon powdered peanut butter. With a spoon or spatula turn popcorn over. Drizzle 1/2 the sauce over popcorn. Return popcorn to fridge and pan to warm burner. Stir 2 to 4 squares SF chocolate into caramel until it melts. Turn popcorn over again and drizzle with chocolate caramel sauce. Place popcorn in fridge until sauce is set. Spoon into airtight container

Jicama Tea Sandwiches
I had some jicama that wouldn't last another day before spoiling so I decided to try something I've been hearing about for a while - jicama used in place of bread and tortillas.

I used a mandoline to thinly slice jicama then made a spread from homemade ricotta mixed with herbs from the garden. I love jicama but honestly, I'll stick to jicama crudites and roasted jicama (my new fave thing). I'm glad I tried it though :)

After a little experimenting I found an easy way to use my empty pods to get a delicious pea puree. I boiled the pods until they were soft (about 5 minutes) then pureed them in a food proccessor, poured the puree a cup at a time into a strainer set over a bowl, stirring until nothing but a fiberous mass is left in the strainer. Dump that in the compost bin and repeat until all the puree has been strained. As you can see by this pic the ice bath isn't really needed.

You can use this puree:
To make a soup.
Make a pesto.
Stirred into ricotta cheese for a spread on toast or seasoned (S&P, grated Parmesan), and used on their own as a spread.
Blend with roasted garlic and EVOL for a dip or garnish.
