What an awesome show last week at @operahouseto to watch the amazing collection of artists known as the Trans-Canada Highwaymen. Thanks to Craig, Moe, Chris and Steve for an amazing time! Special shout out to Tom Wilson and Bruce McCulloch for bringing their energy, too.
And of course Minaz and I had a great time with Kel and Gregg!
Let's do this again!!

In a bustling downtown Toronto hotel lobby, I had the privilege of sitting down with Adrian Sutherland, an Indigenous musician whose soulful melodies and poignant lyrics are capturing hearts far and wide. As the anticipation for his album release concert at the Cameron House mounted, we delved into discussions ranging from his recent travels to the significance of his new album, “Precious Diamonds.”
Adrian’s latest musical endeavor is more than just a collection of songs—it’s a testament to his cultural roots and a platform for Indigenous expression. With two fully Cree songs featured on the album, Adrian spoke passionately about the importance of representing his native language for his Indigenous fan base. The positive reception of these Cree songs underscores the profound connection listeners have with music that reflects their heritage.
No
Our conversation took a somber turn as we addressed the harsh realities faced by Adrian’s community, Attawapiskat, including housing shortages, lack of clean water, and the devastating opioid crisis. Through his music, Adrian sheds light on these pressing issues, using his platform to raise awareness and advocate for change.
For those eager to experience Adrian’s music firsthand, he graciously provided information on where to find his music online. Visit his website at https://adriansutherlandmusic.com/ to listen to his latest tracks, purchase albums, and stay updated on upcoming tour dates.
In a world where voices often go unheard, Adrian Sutherland’s music serves as a beacon of hope—a reminder of the power of storytelling and the resilience of Indigenous cultures. As we bid farewell, I couldn’t help but feel inspired by Adrian’s unwavering commitment to amplify Indigenous voices and spark meaningful conversations through his art. With each note he sings, Adrian is not just entertaining audiences; he’s igniting change, one song at a time.

Even a little rain can cause immense damage and hardship in Kibera (Kibra) slums. This is no joke. This is as real as it gets.
Most Kibera slum residents live in extreme poverty, earning less than US$2 per day. Unemployment rates are high. 12% of the population are living with HIV. Cases of assault and rape are common. There are few schools, and most people cannot afford education for their children. Clean water is scarce. Diseases caused by poor hygiene are prevalent. A great majority living in the slum lacks access to basic services, including electricity, running water, and medical care. (@wikipedia)
Yet there's hope and proof that all is not lost: @safaricomplc_'s #MPesa was created by a Kibera resident. And most, if not all the children we met had smiles on their faces.
