The Ambiance Project(TAP) is a NGO designed to bring environmental harmony and equilibrium to Trinidad and Tobago. It was officially incorporated in March 2019.
The Managing Director, Deryck Dhanie, was influenced to create an organization to work within TnT because of the endemic problem we face. The entire country is covered in garbage. Throughout this beautiful twin island nation, trash pervades every corner, crevice and sanctum. It is clear the agencies responsible for ensuring our environment is well maintained are unable to perform their duties in a manner which ensures our Environment is well taken care of. The sheer volume of the task is mammoth and they are under-resourced for it.
TAP saw that they require assistance, that there is a void in both the physical and educational resources available. Through the tools TAP has access to, we believe that we can make a contribution, firstly by collecting the garbage, secondly, by recycling/upcycling some of the garbage and thirdly by educating our school children.
TAP has the rights to the SeaBin, which enables us to work with The Seabin Project. This is a very creative and innovative solution to garbage in our waters. It collects garbage floating in the water on a 24/7 basis. From this, we will ensure the garbage is sent to recycling centres. However, even more so, this project enables us through The Global Ambassador Programme (GA’s) to educate our school children. They are more involved in the collecting of the trash, sorting, weighing and then uploading this data to an international database, and thus becoming GA’s. This programme asks them also to return to their schools, their friends and families, in turn educating them about the garbage, the volumes, the dangers and hopefully, we can transform more and more of our population into more Environmentally Literate people.
