Today's is featuring "Where The Dark Stands Still" by A. B. Poranek.

"Raised in a small village near the spirit-wood, Liska Radost knows that Magic is monstrous, and its practitioners, monsters. After Liska unleashes her own powers with devastating consequences, she is caught by the demon warden of the wood – the Leszy – who offers her a bargain: one year of servitude in exchange for a wish.

Whisked away to his crumbling manor, Liska soon discovers the sinister roots of their bargain. And if she wants to survive the year and return home, she must unravel her host’s spool of secrets and face the ghosts of his past.

The South Jersey Children’s Book Festival Board is proud to host the first-ever South Jersey Children’s Book Festival, themed Celebrating FREADOM, on April 13, 2024, 1:00-4:00 p.m. at Haddonfield Middle School, located at 5 Lincoln Avenue.

The festival will welcome 15 extraordinary authors and illustrators, including featured speaker Cece Bell, author/illustrator of El Deafo, a Newbery award-winning book and now an Apple+ Animated TV series, Kat Yeh, Charity Alyse, I.W. Gregorio, Donna Gephart, Lori Houran, Ali Terese, Megan Atwood, Leslie Kimmelman, Katie Locke, and author/illustrators Mark Tatulli, Jamar Nicholas, Liz Montague, Lisa Jahn-Clough, and Matt Phelan.

This free event—created for the picture book to the young adult reader, as well as families and book lovers of any age—will offer author talks, book signings, illustrator demos, discussion panels about banned books, and fun craft activities.

We hope you will join us in celebrating the freedom to read and the joy of supporting diverse and inclusive stories!
