Vegan Nutella has arrived! 🙌 They swapped the milk powder for chickpeas and rice syrup. Already available for a good while in Germany, Belgium and France (that was convenient at my last trip to France, where vegan options are notoriously limited 🤌). Now available in the Netherlands as well, at Albert Heijn and Jumbo supermarkets.

Dedicated vegan food stand at the University of Amsterdam!! 🤩 started earlier in the year as a pilot project, but by now is rolling full steam! Intended for students and staff, they are located at Roeterseiland canteen. Here they’re serving up tasty warm meals for just €4,20.

If is releasing new flavours you gotta pay attention because it’s probably gonna be goood! 🤩 Four new bars of vegan milk chocolate with creamy filling: ‘Dubai’ style pistachio | Hazelnut praline | Peanutbutter with crunchy peanut pieces | Speculoos.

Famous Belgian chocolate praline producer Neuhaus also has a VEGAN assortment! A box of 12 pralines (4 varieties: yuzu ginger | caramel pecan | caramel coffee | ganache earl grey) is available online or in De Bijenkorf (price € 30,95).

Praline manufacturer Leonidas has vegan chocolates as well, find these in their store at Kalvertoren.

Ekoplaza and sell packages of chocolate truffles from brands like Booja-Booja or Belvas.

New vegan high tea option, at rooftop bar .amsterdam! 🤩 This luxury menu starts with a cocktail and various scones (served with chutneys). Then the main part, an array of 10 different bites, pastries and chocolate pralines, both savoury and sweet. Accompagnied by unlimited tea, choose from their many options! The whole menu is created by vegan patissier .

Luminair is located at the top floor of the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel, near central station. Superb view over the city!

The vegan high tea is available from Friday to Sunday, between 13:00 and 17:00. Price €54, more info on their website.

In Amsterdam also is offering vegan hightea (check for details the menu on their website).

Find alternative events and news articles in free newspaper ! Operating since 2015, their goal is to show ‘collective action and radical political debate’, as originating from Amsterdam’s counterculture and free spaces.

In the newspaper and on the website there’s a list of participating venues and recommendations (like ADM, De Ceuvel, De Nieuwe Anita, OCCII etc.). In the agenda you’lll find cultural events. Also news and opinion articles, as well as music and book recommendations and news about local protests.

The printed newspaper comes out every two months, you can pick up a copy at participating venues.

📣 A coalition of animal welfare organisations organised on World Animal Day the ‘Dierendagdemo’, to protest against factory farming.

Vegan activists joined the demo united with their own demands: no slaughter, no cages, no consessions.

In total over 6.000 people showed up.

Oosterpark, last Saturday. A group of dedicated activists set out to outreach people about the dairy industry. This as a reaction to the presence of an ‘artwork’ using live cows, coming from a dairy farm.

The artwork titled ‘Pasture with Cows’ was created by a Belgium art collective and took place for three days. This was made possible by farmers organization LTO as a marketing effort.

Local activists from a.o. Vegan Future of Amsterdam, We The Free and Anonymous for the Voiceless joined forces to show people the reality of the dairy industry, using tv-screens and virtual reality headsets.

🇸🇪 Vegan Delicatobolls are back at Ikea! Famous Swedish sweets, they are oatballs with cocoa-mocha flavour, covered in grated coconut. You can find them everywhere in Sweden.

Ikea used to sell the original brand ones which are vegan, then replaced them with a non-vegan house brand one. This new package is also from Ikea but vegan. 🙌

Find them in Ikea’s Swedish food market area.
