The official page for http://absolutelygospel.com/ . SoGospelNews started as a simple webpage listing artists, fans, individuals, etc.
Formed over 25 years ago by Deon & Susan Unthank originally as SoGospelNews.com, the site was birthed from an email discussion group by the same name. The SoGospelNews email discussion list was created by the Unthanks after the Singing News shut down its extremely popular discussion list. that were avid supporters of the newly formed SoGospelNews talk list. The site eventually took on printing new
s for Southern Gospel artists, and eventually took on reviewing the latest recordings from both signed and independent artists within the small genre. SoGospelNews became the most viewed Southern Gospel website on the Internet with over 4,000,000 hits per month. In April 2010, SoGospelNews changed its name to AbsolutelyGospel.com. The name change allows them to cover news items of not only Southern Gospel, but also Country Gospel, Inspirational, and Black Gospel. On January 5, 2011, Susan Unthank passed away, leaving the website in control of Deon, their son, Chris, and their daughter Amy. Deon passed away on December 17, 2022 right after arranging the sale of the site to good family friend Bev McCann. The site is now ran by Bev McCann and the Nashville 37201 media group.

Welcome Branson Self to the Tribute Team!
Nashville, TN - Tribute Quartet has recently made a transition on the technical side of their team. Branson Self was hired into the position (previously filled by Corey Lackey) of live sound engineer. Branson is an alumni of Pellissippi State Community College and currently resides in Maynardville, TN with his wife, son and “soon to arrive” daughter.
Gary Casto states, “we were very fortunate to have had an amazing worker and team player in Corey Lackey, who previously filled the position of sound engineer. We are more than grateful for the work ethic he brought to our ministry. Tribute Quartet has always operated as a team and he was a wonderful team player.” Gary continues, “we’re delighted to have Branson on board! He, too, has a great sense of work ethic and I can’t wait to see what’s ahead.”
Branson states, “I’m thrilled for this opportunity to grow with the Lord and in my field of study. I cannot wait for what the future holds for myself and Tribute.”
